Rosemont, Ill.- The Dominican University softball team hosted the Eagles of Benedictine University Tuesday evening.
Game 1 Results:

How it Happened:
-Benu grabbed the lead firs in the top of the fourth scoring 2 runs 2 hits.
-The Stars tied it up at 2 in the bottom of the fifth from a 2 RBI single from Junior
Kayla Faber-Cournane.
-The Eagles took the lead right back scoring a run on 2 hits.
-DU tied it right back up at 3 from an RBI triple from Senior
Kailey Kirkwood.
-Dominican walked it off from an RBI single by Junior
Makayla Barnes.

Makayla Barnes went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Junior
Kayla Faber-Cournane went 2-3 with 2 RBI's at the plate and pitching wise Faber-Cournane went 7 innings only allowing 3 runs.

How it Happened:
-DU jumped out in front in the bottom of the first scoring 3 runs. The first run scored by Junior
Kennedy Marvin off the bat from Barnes. Junior
Theresa Wilsterman drives in the second run on a fielders choice. The third run in the inning came off the bat of Senior
Geneva Pollman.
-The score remained 3-0 until the top of the 5th when the Eagles scored a run on a hit.
-Benu chipped away in the top of the sixth scoring a run on 2 hits.
-The Stars brought it back to a two run lead with a sacrifice fly from Freshman
Ryley Davis.
-Benedictine scored a run in the top of the seventh on two hits, but was shut down by Junior

Shining Stars:
-Senior
Geneva Pollman led the Stars going 2-3 with a run scored.
-Sophomore
Emma Woodhouse went 2-2 at the plate and pitched 4 innings with 3 strikeouts.

Theresa Wilsterman went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Today was the first time the Stars beat the Eagles since April 2 of 2018. DU ending an 0-10 run versus Benedictine.

The Dominican University softball team will be back in action April 20th on the road at Wisconsin Lutheran College. First pitch of the double header at 3:00 p.m.
