Rockford, Ill.- The Dominican University softball team swept Rockford University on Saturday afternoon.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 8
Rockford: 4
How it Happened:
-After a scoreless two innings, the Regents struck first, plating on over in the bottom of the third.
-The Stars tied it up at 2 in the top of the fifth from an RBI single from Junior
Makayla Barnes.
-Junior
Delaney McRiley would help the Stars take the lead in the same inning plating two on an RBI single to right field
-McRiley and Barnes would strike again in the sixth to extend the Stars lead to 5-1.
-The Regents would battle back and bring the score to 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth.
-The seventh would be all Dominican as
Liliana Santoyo,
Ryley Davis, and
Kennedy Marvin would combine for an RBI each to give the Stars the 8-4 lead and close out game 1 one.
Shining Stars:
-Juniors
Makayla Barnes and
Delaney McRiley each went 3-4 with 2 RBI's.

Ryley Davis would go 3-4 with 1 RBI.

How it Happened:
-The Stars quickly caught fire and took avantage of the Regents' miscues to plate five total runs in the first.
-Rockford would answer back in the bottom of the inning to bring the score to 5-3.
-McRiley and Junior Theresa Wilterman combined for 3 RBI's in the third to make it 8-3 Stars.
-A seven run 3rd inning by the Stars would put the Regents in a 15-3 disadvantage.
-The Regents would plate two in the fifth but it would not be enough to extend the game as the Stars put the game out of reach in five innings.
Shining Stars:
-The pitching combo of
Emma Woodhouse,
Elise Gamino, and
Geneva Pollman held the Regents 0 earned runs and six strikeouts.
