Schaumburg, Ill.- The Dominican University baseball team hosted the Regents of Rockford University Saturday afternoon.
Game 1 Results:
Rockford:13
Dominican: 6
How it Happened:
-Rockford got on the board in the top of the first scoring a run on a hit.
-RU tacked on 2 runs in the top of the third on 3 hits.
-In the bottom half of the third Dominican tied it up at 3 with an RBI single from Sophomore
CJ Kalekas and a 2 RBI single by Junior
Grayson Downing.
-The Regents jumped back out in front in the top of the 5th scoring a run on 3 hits.
-Rockford kept putting runs on the board by scoring runs in the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth making the score 13-3 going into the bottom of the 9th inning.
-DU grabbed 3 runs in the bottom of the ninth by an RBI double by Senior
Keegan Brandt. A passed ball brought in a run, and Freshman
John Tormey brought in the sixth run on an error.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore
CJ Kalekas led the Stars going 1-3 and 2 walks. Driving in a run and also scoring a run.
-Junior
Grayson Downing went 1-4 with 2 RBI's
-Senior
Keegan Brandt went 1-1 with a pinch hit double.

How it Happened:
-Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Senior
Jake Polonus hit his first homerun of the year. Making the score 2-0 Dominican.
-The Stars added a run in the bottom of the sixth by an RBI single off the bat of Junior
Matthew Partridge.
-Rockford's bats woke up in the top of the 8th by scoring 7 runs on 5 hits.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Matthew Partridge led the Stars in game 2 going 2-4 with an RBI.
-
Grayson Downing and
CJ Kalekas both went 2-5.
-Senior
Jake Polonus went 1-3 with a homerun.
-Sophomore
Ethan Shepherd started for DU and went 7 strong innings striking 7 batters out and not giving up a run.
