Plymouth, Wis. - The Dominican University Softball team traveled to Lakeland University on Wednesday for a doubleheader.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 9
Lakeland: 8
How it Happened:
-The Stars fell behind in the very first inning. The Muskies were able to score 3 runs and take the lead.
-Dominican got on the board in the fourth with a game-tying 3-run triple from senior
Geneva Pollman.
-Lakeland responded with a 2-run fifth inning and a 3-run sixth.
-The Muskies led 8-3 after six innings.
-Just as the game seemed to be slipping away from the Stars, junior
Theresa Wilsterman blasted a grand slam to bring the Muskies lead down to 8-7.
-Freshman
Paytin Salfi then followed that up with a go-ahead 2-run double.
-DU was able to hold onto their lead in the bottom half and finish off the statement comeback victory.
Shining Stars:
-Wilsterman's seventh-inning grand slam was just what the Stars needed.
-Freshman
Elise Gamino came in to shut the door in the seventh and earned her first career save.
-Pollman stuffed the stat sheet with 2Â hits, 3 RBIs, a run, a triple, and a hit-by-pitch.

Game 2 Results:
Dominican: 10
Lakeland: 7
How it Happened:
-The Stars offense was ready to go in the second game and got on the board in the first inning.
-2 runs scored on an error and Salfi drove in 2 more with a double. Dominican led 4-0 after the top of the first.
-Lakeland responded in the third as a sac fly to bring the lead to 4-1.
-Dominican had a huge fourth inning that got started with two more runs scoring on a Lakeland error.
-DU added another run on another error to take a 7-1 lead.
-Pollman then extended the lead with a deep drive down the left field line that cleared the wall. The 2-run homer gave Dominican a 9-1 lead.
-The Stars weren't done there as the starting pitcher sophomore
Emma Woodhouse helped her own cause and drove in a tenth run.
-Lakeland tried to their best Stars impression and the comeback effort was on.
-The Muskies notched runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh inning but it wasn't enough and they fell 10-7.
Shining Stars:
-Pollman had a great day and carried the momentum from game 1 with 3 more hits including a home run.
-Salfi reached twice and drove in 2 runs with her double.
-Woodhouse held her own in the cirlce and went 5.2 innings to earn the win.
