Stars Split Final Home Matchup

Schaumburg, Ill. - The Dominican University baseball team hosted the Raiders of MSOE for their final home matchup of the year. 

Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 5
MSOE: 4

How it Happened:
-The Raiders took the lead early by scoring a run on two hits. 
-Score remained 1-0 until the Stars tied it up in the bottom of the third with Senior Garrett Wano reaching on an error and bringing in the tying run. Junior Matthew Galdi also, reached on an error and brought in another run making the score 2-1 DU.  
-Dominican extended the lead to 3-1 when Junior Grayson Downing had an RBI single to right field. 
-Stars made it 4-1 by scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 5th.  
-MSOE came storming back tying the game up in the top of the 6th by scoring 3 runs on 3 hits. 
-Wano delivered an RBI single in the bottom of 6th. 

Shining Stars:
-Junior Grayson Downing went 2-5 with an RBI 
-Freshman John Tormey went 2-4 with 2 runs scored.   
-Senior Carson Harvey earned his first collegiate save.

Game 2 Results:
MSOE: 7
Dominican: 2

How it Happened:
-Game stayed tied 0-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning when Junior Grayson Downing delivered an RBI double to left field. 
-The Raiders would take the lead in the top of the seventh by scoring 3 runs on 3 hits.  
-Stars chipped into the lead when Freshman John Tormey had a sacrifice fly to left field bringing in Senior Zach Rigdon
-MSOE added another 3 runs on 3 hits in the top of the 8th inning.  
-Raiders got the final run of the ball game in the top of the 9th on 2 hits. 
-Illinois Tech added two more in the bottom of the fifth on one hit. 

Shining Stars: 
-Junior Grayson Downing went 1-3 with and RBI and a walk. 
-Sophomore Ethan Shepherd went 4 scoreless innings.

What's Next:
The Dominican University baseball team will be back in action Saturday afternoon at Aurora University with the  first pitch of the double header at 12:00 p.m.
