Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Stars Sweep Day Two In Iowa

Pella , IA - The Dominican University women's volleyball team participated in the Buena Vista University tournament. 

Match 1:
Dominican 3
Buena Vista : 1

How it Happened:
-Dominican started off strong, winning the first set 25-21 with a 14 kills.
-The Stars would put up a .1 attack percentage in the second set. Dropping the set 27-25. 
-DU stormed back in the third as they were able to capture a 25-11 set victory. Going up 2 games to 1. 
-Dominican had just one error in the third set. 
-The Stars took care of business in the fourth set winning 25-21. 
-DU had 15 aces throughout the duration of the game. 

Shining Stars:
-Senior Cassidy Spies continues the hot start to the season by leading the team with 17 kills. 
-Senior Maya Green had game high in services aces for the Stars with 5. 
-Junior Olivia Mendell had 45 assists for Dominican. 
-Senior Emily Schellhase, Junior Tanya De La RIva,and  Spies all had over 10 digs. 16, 14, and 11 respuctfully. 

Leading the Way:
Kills: Spies (17)

Blocks: E. Mendell (5)
Assists: O. Mendell (45)
Digs: Schellhase (16)

Dominican: 3

How it Happened:
-Dominican took the momentum from game one into game two winning in straight set. 
-The Stars won the first set 25-22 recording 10 kills. 
-DU won set number two to the exact same score and recording 10 kills with only one error. 
-In the third set Dominican won 25-17 recording 10 kills once again. 
-The Stars were around the net the whole game capturing 6 blocks. 

Shining Stars:
-Mendell led the team with 25 assists.
-Spies had a team high 7 kills. 
-Junior Charlotte Hain had 13 digs for the Stars.

What's Next:
The Dominican University women's volleyball team will be back in action next weekend at the SNC tournament starting September 8th against Carroll University. With a start time at 5:00 p.m.
