River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University women's basketball team hosted Marian University for their first conference game of the season.

How it Happened:
-Dominican fell behind early with Marian jumping out to a 9-0 lead. The score at the end of the first quarter was 22-13 in favor of the Sabres.
-Freshman
Danielle Washington led the Stars in the quarter with 6 points and knocked down two 3's.
-The defense tightens up in the second quarter with only 24 total points compared to the 35 points scored in the first.
-The halftime score was 36-23, Marian leading.
-Both teams came out shooting the lights out after the break. Dominican shooting 46% from the field and scoring team-high 19 points in the quarter.
-Sophomore
Kaitlyn Milison exploded for 8 points in the quarter.
-The wheels fell off in the 4
th quarter, with Dominican only scoring 10 points in the quarter.
Shining Stars:
-Freshman
Danielle Washington led the team in 3's, going 5-7 from behind the arc. Washington had 15 points on the night with 3 assists and 2 rebounds.
-Sophomore
Kaitlyn Milison collected 15 points with 4 rebounds.
-Freshman
Lacey Schaffter went 2-3 from behind the 3-point line. Schaffter had 6 points.
-Sophomore
Lia Saunders had 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.

What's Next:
Dominican University women's basketball team will be back in action Saturday afternoon in the Igini Sports Forum. The Stars will host Benedictine University in the second game of the doubleheader. Tip-off between DU and BenU is set for 3:30 pm.
