Stars Outlast Muskies in Overtime

Plymouth, Wis.- The Dominican University men's basketball team traveled to Lakeland University to keep playoff hopes alive. 

Results:

How it Happened:
-Dominican started off cold from behind the arc shooting 0-8 from behind the 3 point line. 
-Aside from the poor shooting from behind the arc, The Stars shot 46% from the field in the first half. 
-DU went into halftime down 39-34. 
-Dominican cut the Lakeland lead to 1 before the Muskies went on a 6-0 run making the score 47-41 with 17 minutes left. 
-The Stars went on their own 7-0 run four minutes later. DU gained a 60-56lead with 12 minutes left in the game. 
-Dominican got the lead to 7 when Senior Jacob Riedl knocked down two free throws, making the score 77-70. 
-Lakeland closed the cap and hit a three with 7 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. 
-Stars and Muskies were tied at 88. 
-Senior Robert Taylor got DU on the board first with two free throws. 
-Sophomore Joshua West got Dominican the lead with a layup plus the foul. Grabbing a 102-100 lead. 
-Junior Andre Bennett made two more free throws getting the lead to 104-100. 
-Dominican had 26 bench points compared to Lakeland's 22.
-The Stars dominated in the paint scoring 66 of their 104 points in the paint. 

Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Joshua West got himself a career high in points tonight with 31. West shot 12 for 20 from the field and collected 5 rebounds. 
-Junior Daniel Nennig had team high with 5 assists, Nennig also collected 9 points. 
-Senior Robert Taylor chipped in with 17 points on 6-11 shooting, as well as 7 rebounds. 
-Senior Jacob Riedl had 15 points and went 5 for 5 from the charity stripe. 
Junior Andre Bennett also got into the double figures with 10 points.

What's Next:
The Dominican University men's basketball team will be hosting the 9th seed in the NACC in the Igini Sports Forum Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. This game has NACC playoff implications as Dominican currently is holding the last playoff spot in the NACC.
