Elizabethtown,- Ken.- The Dominican University softball team took their 8 game win streak to Transylvania University, for the Transylvania Tournament.
The Stars faced off against Anderson University for game one, and DePauw University in game two.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 5
Anderson:4
How it Happened:
-Dominican and Anderson were held scoreless for the first two innings, and then the Ravens scored 3 runs on 5 hits.
-DU grabbed a run back in the bottom of the third inning when Junior
Donatela Sommesi hit an RBI single up the middle.
-Senior
Geneva Pollman got the Stars within one on a sacrifice fly to the left fielder.
-Dominican had a big 6th inning scoring 4 runs. Starting off with an RBI single from Sophomore
Paytin Salfi. Junior Lily Santoyo brought in two runs by reaching on an error. The last run was scored on another error by the Ravens coming off of the bat of Freshman
Kailee Diaz Randall.
-Anderson got a run on a hit with in the top half of the 7th.
Shining Stars:
-Junior Lily Santoyo led the Stars going 2 for 3 with an RBI, and 2 runs scored.
-Sophomore
Paytin Salfi also went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Senior
Geneva Pollman went 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Junior
Hanna Voegtle picked up her first win of the season pitching three and two thirds innings only giving up a run.

How it Happened:
-Junior starter
Emma Woodhouse held the Tigers hit less until the fourth inning when DePauw scored a run on 2 hits.
-The Stars answered back quickly scoring 2 runs in the top of the fifth inning. The first run came off the bat of Junior
Donatela Sommesi with an RBI single down the right field line. The second run came on a double steal. Freshman
Alyssa Craig crossed the plate to give DU the lead.
-DePauw regained the lead scoring 3 runs on two hits.
-Last wraps for the Stars and they come through scoring 3 runs. Craig got the scoring going on an RBI double to center field. Junior
Emma Woodhouse grabbed the lead on a 2 RBI single to left field.
-Senior
Kayla Faber-Cournane came into the ball game to close out the game. She gets 3 ground outs to pick up her first save of the season.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Emma Woodhouse went 1 for 4 at the plate but drove in 2 RBI's offensively. On the defensive side of the ball Woodhouse pitched 6 innings only giving up 1 earned run.
-Freshman
Alyssa Craig led the Stars offensively, and had her break out game. Craig went 3 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Junior
Donatela Sommesi went 2 for 3 with an RBI, a run scored, and a walk.
-Senior
Geneva Pollman went 2 for 3.

What's Next:
The Dominican University softball team will look to continue their 10 game win streak tomorrow, back in Elizabethtown. The Stars will face off against Transylvania University at 9:00 a.m. est, and Spalding University directly afterwards at 11:15 a.m. est.
