Elizabethtown, Ken.- The Dominican University softball team played their last two games in the Transylvania Tournament Sunday morning.
The Stars played the host #9 in the country Transylvania University, followed by Spalding University
Game 1 Results:

How it Happened:
-Dominican and Transylvania were both held scoreless until the top of the third inning. When Junior Emma Woodhosue hit a 2 run homerun to left field.
-Woodhosue started for the Stars in the circle and did not give up a run until the bottom of the 6th inning. When Transylvania scored a run on 3 hits.
-Dominican pitching between Woodhouse and Senior
Kayla Faber-Cournane held Transylvania to 6 hits in the ball game.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Emma Woodhouse did it all for the Stars going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a run scored, and then pitched five and a third innings only giving up one run on 4 hits. Woodhouse picked up 2 strikeouts also. Woodhouse is a perfect 7-0 on the season.
-Senior
Kayla Faber-Cournane picked up her second save of the season. Pitching an inning and two thirds.

How it Happened:
-The Stars rode the momentum from taking down the #9 team in the country, to their second game against Spalding University.
-Dominican got on the board in the first inning scoring two runs. The first run coming on a sacrifice bunt by Sophomore
Ryley Davis. Second run came on a double steal with Junior
Donatela Sommesi crossing the plate, and Sophomore
Paytin Salfi stealing second.
-There was a lot more runs to come for the Dominican squad in the second inning scoring 5 runs on 4 hits.
-The first run of the second inning came off the bat of the Freshman Kailee Diaz-Randall hitting an RBI single. Senior
Kayla Faber-Cournane continued hitting a bases clearing triple driving in 2 runs. Sommesi followed by reaching on a fielders choice that brought in Faber-Counane. Junior
Emma Woodhouse continued the hit parade for the Stars getting Sommesi into scoring position. Davis drove her in on the next at bat.
-Salfi brought in the 8th run for the Stars in the hitting an RBI single to left field.
DU beat Spalding in 5 innings and starting pitcher Faber-Cournane only allowed 1 hit the entire game.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Kayla Faber-Cournane went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. In the circle Faber-Cournane pitched 5 scoreless innings only giving up one hit, and picked up 3 strikeouts. Faber-Cournane is now a perfect 7-0 in the circle for the Stars.
-Junior
Emma Woodhouse went 2 for 3 with a run scored.
-Junior
Donatela Sommesi went 1 for 3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.
-Sophomore
Paytin Salfi went 1 for 2 with a walk and an RBI.

What's Next:
The Dominican University softball team will head into conference play on a 12 game winning streak. The Stars will be back in action next Saturday March 23rd, for their home opener in Rosemont. Where they will take on St. Norbert College. First pitch will be at 12:00 p.m.
