Rosemont, Ill. - The Dominican University softball team got back in action for the first time since being nationally ranked.The Stars hosted the Green Knights of St. Norbert College.
Game 1 Results:

How it Happened:
-Dominican and St. Norbert were held each other scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd inning, when the Stars put 2 runs on the board.
-The first run came on a sacrifice fly from Junior
Donatela Sommesi. Junior
Emma Woodhouse hit an RBI triple.
-DU scratched another run across the board with Senior
Kennedy Marvin reached on a fielders choice.
-Dominican continued to score in their at bat with Sophomore
Ryley Davis hitting a sacrifice fly to right field.
-DU got their last run of the game with a RBI single by Senior Kayla Faber Cournane.
-The Stars had 6 stolen bases.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Emma Woodhouse was once again fabulous for the Stars going 3 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. With one of the hits being a triple. Woodhouse also started in the circle for Dominican where she pitched a scoreless complete game, and Woodhouse picked up 4 strikeouts.
-Senior
Geneva Pollman went 2 for 3 with a run scored, with one of her hits being a double, and also made a fantastic diving catch in the first inning.
Senior
Kayla Faber-Cournane went 1 for 3 with an RBI, a run scored, and 2 stolen bases.

How it Happened:
-The Green Knights were first to get a run across the plate by scoring a run on 2 hits in the top of the first.
-Dominican put up a huge number in their half of the second inning by scoring 8 runs on 6 hits.
-The scoring got underway with Junior Lily Santoyo had a bunt single that brought in 2 runs. Senior
Kayla Faber-Cournane then cleared the bases with a 3 run double to center field. Junior
Emma Woodhouse continued the hit parade for the Stars by hitting an RBI single to center field. Senior
Geneva Pollman continued her fantastic day by hitting a 2 run triple to right field.
-DU got 3 more runs in the third inning, with the first run coming off of an RBI triple by Woodhouse. Sophomore
Ryley Davis continued by hitting an RBI double to left field. Sophomore
Paytin Salfi brought in the final run of the inning by an RBI single to right field.
-St. Norbert scratched into the Dominican lead by scoring a run on two hits in the 4th inning.
