Stars Drop Two to Cougars

River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University baseball team traveled down the street to Concordia University of Chicago to face off against the Cougars. 

Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 12
Concordia Chicago:14

How it Happened:
-Dominican got the first run across the board with Sophomore Niko Krecu hitting a sacrifice fly to left field. 
-The Cougars answered back in the bottom of the first with a solo homerun. 
-DU did not allow the 1-1 tie to last long because the Stars put up a 9 run second innning. 
-The scoring started off with Senior Anthony Nalbono hitting his second collegiate homerun, and first of the year. Sophomore Zach Helein and Senior Matt Galdi would draw back to back walks bringing in 2 runs. Krecu then followed it up with an RBI single. Junior CJ Kalekas continued the hit parade with a another RBI single. Nalbono then brought in his second RBI of the inning on a sacrifice fly to center field. Senior Gabe McCall brought in the next 2 runs on a double to center field. The final run of the inning came off of the bat of Junior Braiden Galvin
-Concordia Chicago cut the Dominican lead to 10-2 with their second solo homerun. 
-CUC added 4 runs in the 3rd inning on 3 hits. 
-The Cougars tied the game up in the bottom of the 4th inning. By scoring 4 runs on 5 hits. 
-Concordia Chicago hit their third solo homerun of the game and took the lead. 
-Galdi tied up the ball game at 11 with his own solo shot. Kalekas then followed it up with a RBI double, giving DU a 12-11 lead. 
-CUC followed it up with yet another solo homerun tying the game up at 12. 
The Cougars would walk off in the bottom of the 7th with 2 run homerun.  

Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Niko Krecu went 2 for 2 with a walk, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. 
-Junior CJ Kalekas went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's and a run scored. 
-Senior Matt Galdi went 1 for 2 with 2 walks, 2 RBI's, and 2 runs scored. 
-Senior Anthony Nalbono went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a run scored. 
-Senior Gabe McCall went 1 for 3 with a walk,  2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.

How it Happened:
- CUC starter right where they left off scoring 3 runs on 5 hits in the bottom of the first inning. 
-The Stars would get on the board in the third with Freshman Quinton Schwartz reaching on a fielders choice. 
-Concordia Chicago put up a big number in the 4th inning scoring 5 runs on 4 hits.  
-The Cougars added a run in the 5th. Making the score 9-1. 
-DU would cut into the lead in the 6th inning with Senior Gabe McCall drawing a bases loaded walk. Freshman Alex Garcia collected his first collegiate RBI on a single to left field. 
-CUC had another giant inning scoring 9 runs on 3 hits. 
-Senior Matthew Partridge drew a bases loaded walk bringing in a run in the top of the 7th. 

Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Niko Krecu went 2 for 4
-Senior Gabe McCall brought in a run on 2 walks.

What's Next:
The Dominican University baseball team will be back on the road Saturday afternoon, when the Stars travel to St. Norbert College. First pitch of the double header will be at 12:00 p.m.
