Auburndale, Fla.- The Dominican University baseball team played St. Vincent College Thursday morning, to continue their Florida trip.

Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 8
St. Vincent:0

How it Happened:
-Both teams were held scoreless in the first inning.
-Dominican had a big inning in the top of the second, putting up a 4 spot all with 2 outs.
-The Stars got the scoring underway with an RBI walk by Sophomore Zach Helein. Senior Matt Galdi continued the train with a 2 run single to right field. The final run came off the bat of Sophomore Niko Krecu hitting an RBI single to left field.
-Senior starting pitcher Payton Brooks for DU held the Bearcats to a scoreless first three innings, and only allowed one hit.
-Dominican was able to scratch 2 more runs across the board in the fourth. The first run came off the bat of Junior CJ Kalekas hitting an RBI double. Freshman Quinton Schwartz brought in the second run with hitting a ball to shortstop, and causing an error.
-The Stars added 2 more runs in the top half of the 7^th. First run being scored on a fielders choice off the bat of Helein. Galdi brought home the second run when grounding out to second.  
-Brooks threw 7 scoreless innings to blank the Bearcats. Brooks collected 8 strikeouts, and only allowed 4 hits in his outing.
-Stars scored 6 of 8 runs with 2 outs. 

Shining Stars:
-Senior Matt Galdi led the Stars going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's and a run scored. 
-Junior CJ Kalekas went 2 for 4 with an RBI 
-Sophomore Niko Krecu went 1 for 2 with 3 walks, an RBI and a run scored.

The Dominican University Baseball team will be back in action tomorrow when they will play Russell Sage College for a doubleheader. First pitch will be at 3:00 p.m.
