Auburndale, Fla.- The Dominican University baseball team would play a doubleheader against Russell Sage College Friday afternoon.

Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 2
Russell Sage:1

How it Happened:
-Both teams were held scoreless for the first two innings of the ball game.  
-The Gators of Russell Sage would scratch the first run of the game in the top of the third inning on 2 hits.  
-DU takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning. The first run coming on a sacrifice fly by Senior Matt Galdi. The second run was scored on an RBI single by Sophomore Niko Krecu.  
-Senior starting pitcher Chris Kendziora got himself out of multiple jams. Leaving a total of 7 runners on base.  

- Senior Joey Haslam came in the last inning to shut the door and picked up his 3^rd save of the season.

Shining Stars:
-Senior Matt Galdi went 1 for 2 bringing in an RBI
-Sophomore Niko Krecu went 1 for 3 with an RBI
-Senior Chris Kendziora threw 5 innings only allowing 1 run, and collected 3 strikeouts.

How it Happened:
- Both teams were held scoreless in the first two innings, DU got the scoring going with an RBI double by Junior CJ Kalekas.
- Dominican added two more runs in the top of the 4^th inning. The first run being scored on a RBI single by Senior Grayson Downing. Second run coming on a sacrifice fly by Senior Matt Galdi.
- Russell Sage got on the board in their half of the 4^th scoring a run on a hit.
- Freshman starter Langdon Downing got himself out of back-to-back jams. One of them by picking off a runner at first.
- The Stars got the lead back up to 3 on an error by the pitcher, off the bat of Junior Braiden Galvin.
-Dominican gets some insurance runs in the top of the 7^th, putting up a 5 spot. The first two runs coming off the bat of Freshman Ty Phillips on his single to right field. After this DU made the Gators pay getting 3 runs on back-to-back errors.


Shining Stars:
-Senior Grayson Downing led the Stars going 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. 
-Freshman Ty Phillips went 2 for 3 with a walk, 2 RBI's, and a run scored in his first collegiate start. 
-Junior Braiden Galvin went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored.  
-Freshman Langdon Downing was dominant in his start today going 6 inning only allowing a run on 3 hits. As well as, collecting 8 strikeouts.
