Schaumburg, Ill. – The Dominican University baseball team played their third series in five days on Wednesday afternoon. The Stars hosted the #8 team in the country, Benedictine University.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 8
Benedictine: 1
How it Happened:
-The Eagles got on the board first in the top of the second scoring a run on a hit.
-The Stars answered with a big inning in the bottom of the second inning with Senior
Peyton Arsenault digging out an infield single. Junior
CJ Kalekas followed it up with a 2 RBI single to left field. Sophomore
Zach Helein brought in the final run of the inning with a double to center field.
-Dominican was not satisfied with 4 runs, and put up another crooked number in the bottom of the 3
rd inning. Starting off the scoring in the inning was Arsenault picking up his second RBI of the game on single to left field. Junior
Quinton Schwartz followed it up by scoring on a error by the pitcher on a pick-off attempt. Kalekas collected his second RBI of the game by reaching on a fielder's choice to the shortstop.

Payton Brooks held the offense of BenU to just 4 hits through 5 innings, with some spectacular defense behind him.
-DU added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6
th with a sacrifice fly to right field.
Shining Stars:
- Junior
CJ Kalekas was the RBI machine for the Stars in game one driving in 3 on a hit.
-Senior Peyton Arsenaut was not far behind though going 2 for 4 with a 2 RBI's and a run scored.
-Sophomore
Zach Helein went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
-Sophomore
Niko Krecu went 1 for 2 with with a RBI and a run scored.
-Junior
Quinton Schwartz went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
-Senior
Payton Brooks was a force on the mound, throwing a complete game. Brooks had 4 strikeouts and only gave up 1 run on 4 hits.

How it Happened:
- Benedictine scored in the top of the first inning on no hits, but drawing 2 walks in the inning.
-The Eagles added two runs to their lead on a two-run homerun to left field.
-Dominican got on the board in the bottom of the 4
th with Junior
Quinton Schwartz scoring on a wild pitch.
-Benedictine answered right back getting a run on 2 hits.
-Senior
Anthony Nalbono hit a clutch 2 out single to left field bringing in 2 runs in the bottom of the 5
th inning.
-Senior
Matt Galdi tied it up on a ground-rule double in the bottom of the 6
th inning.
-The Stars took the lead in the bottom of the 7 inning, and scored in four straight innings with Freshman
Alex Garcia hitting a pinch hit RBI double to center field.
-Benedictine answered with a big inning of their own scoring 3 runs on 2 hits.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Anthony Nalbono continued his fantastic day going 2 for 5 with 2 RBI's and a run scored.
-Junior
CJ Kalekas went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
-Senior
Matt Galdi went 1 for 3 with 2 walks, an RBI, and a run scored.
-Freshman
Alex Garcia had another pinch-hit RBI double.
