Stars Drop Two at Marian

Fond Du Lac, Wis. – The Dominican University baseball team went on the road to Marian University to cap off their busy week and half.

Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 2
Marian:11

How it Happened:
-The Sabres got on the board in the first inning scoring 5 runs on 6 hits.     
-The score remained 5-0 until Marian added a run in the 3rd inning scoring a run on two hits.
-The Sabres continued to add to their lead scoring 4 runs on 4 hits in the bottom of the 5th.     
-Marian was able to scratch their 11th run of the game in the bottom of the 6th inning on two hits.
-Dominican got on the board in the top of the 7th inning with Sophomore Zach Helein hitting a 2 run single to left.  


Shining Stars:
- Senior Anthony Nalbono went 2 for 3 with a run scored.
-Sophomore Zach Helein went 1 for 4 with bringing in the only 2 runs for the Stars.

Game 2 Results:
Dominican: 7
Marian: 25

How it Happened:
-Marian continued their momentum scoring 5 runs on 4 hits in the first inning.
-The Sabres added 3 runs in the 2nd on 5 hits.
-Marian scored in the third straight inning getting 2 runs on a hit in the 3rd.
-Dominican got on the board in the top of the 5th inning with Junior CJ Kalekas hitting a 2 run double.   
-The Sabres did not wait very long to answer back scoring 7 runs on 4 hits in the bottom half of the 5th.  
-Senior Anthony Nalbono hit his second homerun of the year on a solo shot to left in the 6th.
-Once again Marian answered back right away scoring 8 runs on 4 hits.
-DU had a big inning the top of the 7th scoring 4 runs. The scoring got going with Freshman Alex Garcia had a 2 run single. Junior Gavin Zappe continued the scoring with a RBI single. The final run of the inning came off the bat of Freshman Aidan Groberski on a RBI single. This being Groberski's first collegiate RBI.  

Shining Stars:
-Senior Anthony Nalbono continued his fantastic campaign going 2 for 3 with a walk, an RBI, and 2 runs scored.  
-Freshman Alex Garcia went 1 for 2 with 2 walks, 2 RBI's, and 2 runs scored.   
-Junior CJ Kalekas went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's
-Junior Gavin Zappe went 1 for 2 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored.

What's Next:
The Dominican University baseball team will have a week off before their next contest. This will be Saturday April 20th, when the Stars host the Eagles of Edgewood College. First pitch of the doubleheader will be at 12:00 p.m.
