Schaumburg, Ill. – The Dominican University baseball team, hosted the Eagles of Edgewood College Saturday Afternoon on Senior night.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 10
Edgewood: 7
How it Happened:
-The Eagles got the scoring going with a run on a hit in the first inning.
-Dominican answered back right away, scoring 3 runs of their own. The first run came off a RBI single from Junior
Quinton Schwartz. Sophomore
Zach Helein followed it up by drawing a bases loaded walk. The final run of the inning was delivered on a sacrifice fly by Freshman
Alex Garcia.
-Edgewood was able to cut their deficit to one in the second scoring a run on no hits.
-The score remained 3-2 in favor of the Stars until the Eagles scored 5 runs on 2 hits in the fourth. Making the score 7-3.
-DU was able to grab two runs back in the bottom of the 5
th. First run was scored on a sacrifice fly by Sophomore
Niko Krecu. Garcia followed it up with an RBI single to left.
-The next inning, Dominican's bats woke up in big fashion. Scoring 5 runs on 3 hits.
-The scoring started with Krecu drawing a bases loaded walk. Schwartz followed it up with a fielder's choice that brought in a run. Sophomore
Zach Helein got the first RBI hit of the inning to center field. Schwartz scored from second on a wild pitch. The final run of the inning came off the bat of Garcia picking up his third RBI of the game.
-The Stars were able to shut down the Eagles offense in the 7
th.
Shining Stars:
- Freshman
Alex Garcia was on fire at the plate today going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's.
-Sophomore
Niko Krecu did not get a hit, but brought home 2 RBI's
-Junior
Quinton Schwartz went 1 for 4 with 2 RBI's, a run scored.
-Junior
CJ Kalekas went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
-Senior
Anthony Nalbono went 1 for 3 with a walk, and 2 runs scored.
-Senior
Matt Galdi went 1 for 2 with 2 walks, and 3 runs scored.
-Sophomore
Zach Helein went 2 for 3 with a walk, 2 RBI's, and a run scored.

Game 2 Results:

How it Happened:
-The Stars continued their momentum from game one with Senior
Anthony Nalbono crossed the plate on a passed ball giving DU a 1-0 lead.
-DU added to their lead in the second inning scoring 3 runs on a hit. The first run was by Nalbono getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Senior
Matt Galdi followed by drawing a bases loaded walk. Sophomore
Niko Krecu brought home the final run of the inning on a sacrifice fly to center field.
-Edgewood was able to get on the board in the top of the 4
th scoring a run on a hit.
-DU answered back in the bottom half of the inning scoring a run on two hits. Nalbono continued his fantastic second game by hitting an RBI double to center field.
-The Eagles added two runs to their total on two hits in the 5
th.
-Once again Dominican answered back right away scoring on a groundout from Senior
Gabe McCall.
-Edgewood tied the game up at 6, in the 6
th. Scoring 3 runs on 3 hits.
-The score remained tied at 6 until the top of the 9
th inning. This is when the Eagles scored 3 runs on 3 hits.
-DU went three up and three down in the bottom of the 9
th.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Anthony Nalbono went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a run scored.
-Junior
CJ Kalekas went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored.
-Freshman
Ty Phillips started the game for the Stars going 6 innings with 2 strikeouts.

What's Next:
The Dominican University baseball team will play their final non-conference game of the season. The Stars will travel to North Park University for a single game. This will be a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
