River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University men's volleyball team hosted the #2 seeded Aurora University for the NACC Championship and to earn an automatic bid into the national tournament.

How it Happened:
-The Stars fell behind early losing the first set 25-22. The Stars had 13 kills in the set, but could not overcome 6 errors.
-Dominican bounced back right away though winning the second set 25-22 and had 14 kills in the set on 39 attacks. DU was able to take advantage of the 5 errors of AU.  
-Dominican was getting kills from everyone in this set. Junior Casey Goss, Senior Jarod Hesse, Junior Jason Kougan, and Freshman Ty Geschke all had multiple kills.  
-The Stars stole the third set coming back from a late deficit of 23-18. DU won the set 27-25 with 14 kills on 35 attempts.
-Junior Owen Morrow had back-to-back kills that tied the set at 24 and then gave the Stars a 26-25 lead. Junior Aaron Marrs had two kills in the set, but he finished the Stars comeback with a kill to give DU a 2-1 set lead.
-Dominican carried that comeback momentum to a back and forth set with the Spartans.  
-DU would pull away late getting the last 3 of 4 points. Earning a 25-23 victory.     
-The Stars had 14 kills on 33 attempts. Being led by Hesse collecting 5 kills in the set, including the kill that won Dominican the championship.


Shining Stars:
-Senior Jarod Hesse had 16 kills in the match. Which was tied for team high. Hesse also collected 10 digs, and 2 blocks.
-Junior Casey Goss was tied with Hesse in kills with 16 of them. Goss also collected a service ace, 5 digs, and 3 blocks.
-Junior Jason Kougan had 7 kills and 3 blocks.
-Sophomore Michael Greco had 5 kills and 3 blocks.
-Junior Owen Morrow collected 43 assists and 10 digs. Morrow also, had a block.  
-Sophomore Tyler Vrska had 9 digs and 3 assists.
-Junior Ryan Barnett had a team high 2 service aces, and 4 digs.

What's Next: 
The Dominican University men's volleyball team have received an automatic bid into the NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament. The Stars will await to see who they will play in the first round. The selection show for the tournament is Monday morning.
Dominican will go into the tournament on a 9 game win streak, and currently hold a 19-7 overall record.
