Aurora, Ill. – The Dominican University baseball team traveled to Aurora University for a midweek doubleheader against the Spartans.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 4
Aurora:5
How it Happened:
-The Spartans hit the ground running scoring a run on two hits in the bottom of the first inning.
-Dominican took the lead in the third inning putting up three runs on three hits.
-The scoring got going with Senior
Matt Galdi hitting an RBI single to left field. Sophomore
Niko Krecu cleared the bases with a 2 RBI double to center field.
-The score remained 3-1 in favor of DU until the top of the 5
th inning when Dominican added another run to their total. This run came off the bat of Krecu who brought in his third RBI on a fielder's choice.
-The Stars would go into the final inning of the game with a 4-1 lead.
-Aurora tied the game up though in the bottom of the 7
th scoring 3 runs on 4 hits and taking advantage of an error by DU.
-Dominican got a runner on base in the bottom of the 8
th inning, but was not able score.
-AU walked it off on a balk by the Stars.
Shining Stars:
- Senior
Matt Galdi has been tearing it up for the Stars and it did not stop today, going 3 for 3 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored.
-Senior
Anthony Nalbono has continued his fantastic senior campaign by going 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
-Sophomore
Zach Helein went 2 for 4.
-Junior
CJ Kalekas started the game on the mound for the Stars and pitched extremely well. Going 6.2 innings only giving up 6 hits, and picking up a strikeout.
-Sophomore
Niko Krecu went 1 for 4 but led the Stars in RBI's with 3.

Game 2 Results:
Dominican: 0
Aurora: 2
How it Happened:
-Aurora carried the momentum from game one over to game two scoring a run on a hit in the bottom of the first.
-After the first inning score by the Spartans, it was a pitching duel between the two squads. With a combined 2 hits from the second to the 6
th inning.
-AU was able to scratch their second run across the board in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring a run on a hit.
-DU went three-up and three-down in the top of the 7
th.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Chris Kendziora started for the Stars in game 2 and threw extremely well. Kendziora went 5.1 inning only giving up a hit and collecting 3 strikeouts.

What's Next:
The Dominican University baseball team will continue their NACC schedule Saturday afternoon, when the Stars travel to Milwaukee to face-off with the Warriors of WLC. First pitch of the doubleheader will be at 12:00 p.m.
