Stars Win First Two Road Conference Games

Lisle, Ill. – The Dominican University softball team traveled to Benedictine University for a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.  
 
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 2
Bemedictine:1   
 
How it Happened:
-Dominican went 1-2-3 in the top of the first inning, but in the second inning DU was able to scratch across the first run of the game. This came off the bat of Sophomore Paytin Salfi hitting an RBI single to centerfield.
-The Stars got their second run of the ball game when Freshman Kailee Diaz Randall drove in Senior Geneva Pollman on a groundball to the shortstop.  
-DU lost their shutout in the bottom of the 7th inning when the Eagles got a run on a solo homerun.  
 
Shining Stars:
-Senior Kayla Faber-Cournane after coming off of winning pitcher of the week continued her dominance in the circle this game. Faber-Cournane went 7 innings giving up 4 hits, and collecting 2 strikeouts.
-Sophomore Ryley Davis went 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored.
-Sophomore Paytin Salfi went 1 for 3 with an RBI. 
-Freshman Kailee Diaz Randall went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Game 2 Results:
Dominican: 12

How it Happened:
-The Stars were able to get on the board in the first inning with Junior Donatela Sommesi scoring.
-Dominican offense exploded for a 7 run second inning.  
-The scoring got going with Freshman Kailee Diaz Randall, Senior Kennedy Marvin, and Senior Kayla Faber-Cournane all hit back-to-back-to-back RBI singles. Sophomore Ryley Davis cleared the bases with a 3 run double to centerfield. The final run of the inning came off of the bat of Senior Geneva Pollman.
-DU was not satisfied with 8 runs, and was able to pick up 4 more runs in the third inning. This being the third straight inning of Dominican scoring.
-First run of the inning was delivered when Junior Emma Woodhouse drew a bases loaded walk. Davis picked up her fifth RBI of the game on a single to center field. Freshman Charlize Gonzalez picked up her first collegiate hit and RBI on a double to centerfield.
 
Shining Stars:
-Junior Emma Woodhouse continued her domination in the circle pitching 5 scoreless innings with a strikeout. Offensively Woodhouse went 2 for 3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.  
-Sophomore Ryley Davis had 5 RBIs in the game while going 2 for 4.
-Senior Kennedy Marvin went 2 for 2 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.2

What's Next:
The Dominican University softball team will take their 8-0 conference start to MSOE for their second road series on April 13th. First pitch of the doubleheader will be at 12:00 p.m.
