Cleveland, Ohio. – The Dominican University softball team played in their first elimination game of the tournament. As the Stars played Penn St. Behrend.

How it Happened:
-The Stars got on the board in the first inning by playing small ball. Senior
Kennedy Marvin led the inning off with a single to left field. Following her was two straight sacrifice bunts by Senior
Kayla Faber-Cournane, and Freshman
Kailee Diaz Randall. Sophomore
Ryley Davis grabbed her second RBI of the tournament on a single to left field that brought home Marvin.
-Dominican starter Faber-Cournane was fantastic in the circle not allowing a hit until the 4
th inning.
-DU threatened to get runs in the top of the 5
th inning by getting two runners on with an out, but unable to move them around for a run.
The Stars defense made Penn St. Behrend go 3-up 3-down in the bottom of the 7
th, to win their first NCAA tournament game in program history 1-0.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Kayla Faber-Cournane went 3 for 3 offensively for the Stars, and in the circle Faber-Cournane threw a shutout in all 7 innings of work. Kayla only allowed 3 hits and picked up 2 strikeouts.
-Senior
Kennedy Marvin went 2 for 4 with the only run scored of the ball game.
-Junior
Hanna Voegtle went 2 for 3
-Sophomore
Ryley Davis went 1 for 3 with the only RBI of the ball game.

What's Next:
The Dominican University softball team moved on into the next round of the regional, and played the host school Case Western Reserve University with a chance to go to the regional final.
