Rockford, Ill. – The Dominican University softball team traveled to Rockford University for a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 3
Rockford: 8
How it Happened:
-The Regents got on the board in the first inning with a solo homerun to left field.
-The score remained 1-0 Rockford until the third inning when Dominican got on the board with Senior
Geneva Pollman hitting an RBI single to center field.
-The Stars bats woke up momentarily with Freshman
Kailee Diaz Randall capping off a big inning with a 2 RBI double to left field.
-This gave DU a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the 5
th.
-Rockford did not take long to answer by scoring 3 runs on 4 hits in the bottom half of the inning.
-The very next inning the Regents continued to score by scoring 4 runs on 4 hits.
-This being the third loss for DU in NACC play.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Donatela Sommesi went 2 for 4 with a run scored.
-Senior
Geneva Pollman went 1 for 3 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored.
-Freshman
Kailee Diaz Randall was the RBI leader of the team by going 1 for 3 with a 2 RBI double.
-Sophomore
Paytin Salfi went 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Game 2 Results:
Dominican: 6
Rockford:1
How it Happened:
-Rockford started off the same way as the first game scoring a run in the bottom of the first. This time scoring a run on two hits.
-Dominican answered back though in no time, by scoring 4 runs on 3 hits.
-The scoring got going with Senior
Kennedy Marvin hitting an RBI single to left field. Senior
Geneva Pollman followed it up by reaching on a fielding error by the third baseman. Marvin and Pollman succeeded in a double steal, resulting in Marvin stealing home. Junior Donatella Sommesi singled to left field bringing in Pollman and the final run of the inning.
-The Stars added a run in the fourth with Pollman hitting an RBI single to right field.
-In the final inning of the game DU added another insurance run with Freshman
Kailee Diaz Randall hitting a RBI single to left field.
-This making the score 6-1, going into the bottom of the 7
th inning.
-Freshman starting pitcher
Liberty Rivard went 3 up, 3 down in the bottom of the 7
th earning her first collegiate victory.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Geneva Pollman went 2 for 3 with a walk, and RBI and a run scored.
-Junior
Emma Woodhouse went 2 for 4 with a run scored.
-Sophomore
Paytin Salfi went 2 for 3.
-Junior

Liberty Rivard started in the circle for the Stars, and was dominate. Rivard threw a complete game only allowing a run, that was unearned. Rivard also picked up two strikeouts.

What's Next:
The Dominican University softball team will have a couple days off before playing their last regular season series of the year on Monday afternoon. The Stars will travel to Concordia Wisconsin, the first pitch of game one will be at 1:00 p.m.
