River Forest, Ill. The Dominican University Department of Athletics and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Dr. John Planek, have announced the promotion of Chris Randel to the Director of Athletic Communications position.
Randel, a Streamwood, Illinois native, served the department on an interim basis during the spring semester after serving as the Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant for the last two years. Randel was a four-year baseball student-athlete at Dominican University, while also being involved in SAAC.
Randel completed his undergraduate degree in May of 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing with a minor in management and completed his MBA this past spring. In his free time, Randel is also a part of the Roselle Rockers Fastpitch organization where he coaches 16u softball.
Randel stated, "Being a part of Dominican for six years now, I knew this was something I wanted to continue doing. Being a fomer student-athlete at DU, it gives me a clear direction to move into while serving the current student-athletes to try and give them the best athletic experience possible."
Randel added, "With my six years here at Dominican and working the last two years in the Athletic Communications Department, I believe I have the components to fulfill my responsibilities to the department and the university as well as serve the student-athletes as best as I can."
Dr. John Planek commented on the promotion by saying, "Being a former student-athlete and having been a part of our staff we are excited to have Chris in this role. With his background he will be able to help us enhance the student-athlete experience."
