RIVER FOREST, ILL.- The Dominican University Men's soccer team opened up their season at home, where they suffered a loss against the Firebirds of Carthage College.

How it Happened:
-The Stars opened up the scoring opportunities at the 9 minute mark in the first half when 5th-year
Oleksandr Melnyk was denied in the box.
-Dominican then had a goal called back in the 27th minute due to Junior
Paul Urban being flagged for offsides.
-DU and Carthage go into half-time scoreless. The Stars led the half with 6 shots to 3, and 2 corners to 1.
-After a back-and-forth affair, Carthage found the breakthrough late during the 82nd minute.
-DU pushed for a late equalizer, but Carthage defended soundly and came away with the 1-0 win.
