Jacksonville, Ill. - The Dominican University women's volleyball team opened up their 2024 season at Illinois College for the Illinois College Invitational. This is where the Stars played Carroll University and Webster University Friday night.

-Dominican came out swinging in the first set with 22 total attacks, 8 of them resulted in kills. Â

Mia Febles collected 3 kills for DU in the first set. Â
-Dominican found a bump in a road in the second set falling 25-12, and only collected 4 kills.
 -The Stars tried to bounce back in the third set by getting 6 kills in the set, but fell 25-20.

How it Happened:
-Dominican and Webster played 3 tightly contested sets, but the Stars fell just short in every set.
-In the first set. Dominican had 5 kills on 29 attacks.

Melissa Schmidt and Senior
Adeleen Dunker each had 2 service aces in the first set.
-The Stars continued to battle in the second set collecting 9 kills, on only 3 errors.
-Junior
Ellery Shea did a little bit of everything for DU in this set collecting 2 kills and 3 services aces. Shea was not the only one for the Stars Junior
Emma Mendell had 2 kills.
-Dominican had a lead late in the third set to the score of 23-21, before Webster went on a 4-0 run to secure the win.
-The Stars had 9 kills on 46 total attempts in the third set.Â
