Stars Earn First Win of the Season on Homecoming

River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University women's soccer team hosted the Thunder of Wheaton College on Homecoming Saturday.

Results:
Dominican: 3
Wheaton: 2

How it Happened:
-The match started in the right pace for the Stars getting two shots in the first minute of the game. Juniors Mia Dosen and Sarah Matuszek each collecting a shot.  
-Dominican got on the board first with 5th Year Student Grace Larson burying a goal off a corner.
-Wheaton found the equalizer in the 41st minute of the game. Sending the match to halftime at 1.  
-Coming out of the half DU took the lead with Freshman Ariana Barney netting her second goal of the season in the 56th minute.
-Freshman Tia Garr collected her first collegiate goal in the 63rd minute of the game. Getting the Stars to a 3-1 advantage.
-The Thunder did not back down getting their second goal of the game in the 68th minute.
-Dominican would hold Wheaton scoreless the rest of the match behind some stellar goalkeeping by the graduate student Sarah Grimmett.


Shining Stars:
-Fifth Year Student Grace Larson notched her first goal of the season on 4 shots. 2 of them being on the target.
-Graduate Student Sarah Grimmett was phenomenal between the posts collecting 7 saves in the match and multiple saves being one on one.
-Freshman Tia Garr found the back of the net for the first time in her collegiate career. Garr also notched two shots.
-Freshman Ariana Barney found her second goal of the season on three shots.
-Junior Sarah Matuszek collected an assist with 4 shots, 2 of them found the target.
-Freshman Presley Coles collected her first collegiate assist while playing 39 minutes of the bench.

What's Next:
The Dominican University women's soccer team will be right back in action Wednesday afternoon at West Campus Field. The Stars will host the Spartans of Aurora University to open up NACC play. Kick-off will be at 3:00 pm.
