Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Stars Comeback After Halftime Deficit

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University men's soccer team hosted the Eagles of Benedictine University for their conference home opener.  

Results:
Dominican: 3
Benedictine: 1

How it Happened:
-The Eagles would get on the board first scoring a goal in the 14th minute of the game off of a goal kick.  
-BenU would take a 1-0 lead into the half. DU had 12 shots in the first half, but not able to find the back of the net.
-The Stars were down 1-0 in majority of the second half until 5th Year Student Oscar Montejano barriers the first goal of the game in the 77th minute.  
-Dominican was not done yet with Sophomore Nathan Lara scoring the game winner for the Stars off a cross from Junior Paul Urban.
-The goals kept coming for DU with Senior John Cronnolly putting the nail in the coffin scoring his 7th goal of the season in the 82nd minute of the game.
-Senior Shane Marinkovich was tested in the second half saving all 4 shots on target.

Shining Stars:
-5th Year Student Oscar Montejano led the Stars scoring a goal and adding an assist to his name.
-Senior John Cronnolly led the Stars in shots with 9 of them. One of them found the back of the net and 3 of them were on the target.
-5th Year Student Oleksandr Melnyk had 7 total shots. 4 of them were on target but was not able to find the back of the net.  

-Sophomore Nathan Lara notched his second collegiate goal on 2 shots. Where Lara came off the bench with energy for DU.

What's Next:
The Dominican University men's soccer team will be back at West Campus Field Saturday afternoon when they host St. Norbert College. Kick-off will be at 12:00 pm.
