De Pere, Wis. – The Dominican University women's volleyball team headed north for a weekend tournament at NACC conference opponent St. Norbert College.
Match 1:

How it Happened:
-The Stars opened up the tournament playing the host school, and conference opponent the Green Knights of St. Norbert College.
-In the first set of the game DU put up 9 kills on 28 total attempts, but fell in the set 25-20.
-Dominican tried to respond in the second set, but hit a bump in the road by collecting only 7 kills in set and having the same amount of attacking errors.
-The Stars needed to bounce back in the third set and did just that by winning a hard fought set. The score was 30-28 and DU had 15 kills in this set.
-Senior
Tanya De La Riva led Dominican with 5 kills in the set.
-DU tried to keep the momentum on their side but SNC bounced back right away winning the fourth and final set 25-16.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Tanya De La Riva has really shown out so far this year and it continued here this afternoon with De La Riva getting 18 kills, 16 digs, a service ace and 2 assists.
-Senior
Miriam Guler led DU on the defensive side with 17 digs and 3 assists.
-Senior
Adeleen Dunker added 21 assists to her total. She also chipped in with 13 digs, 2 service aces.
-Senior
Melissa Schmidt also collected 11 assists in the match. Schmidt was able to get 5 kills and 4 digs.

UW Stout: 3
Dominican:0
How it Happened:
-Dominican and UW Stout played a competitive first set with the Stars leading for majority of the set, but then the wheels fell off as DU lost set one 25-21.
-Dominican was able to collect 8 kills in the first set.
-The Stars continued to battle in the second set collecting 9 kills, on only 3 errors.
-UW Stout dominated the rest of the match winning both set two and three to the score of 25-13.
-The Stars collected 5 kills in the second set and 8 kills in the third set.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Tanya De La Riva continued to be the source on the offensive side for DU collecting 11 kills and 13 digs.

Charlotte Hain had team high 21 digs in the match.

Adeleen Dunker had 10 assists and 2 services aces.
-Senior
Mia Febles had 2 service aces and 3 kills.
-Sophomore
Rubie Morrissette also collected 10 assists.

What's Next:
The Dominican University women's volleyball team will continue on with the SNC tournament tomorrow Saturday September 7
th with another double-header. In the first game the Stars will play Central College at 12:30 pm. Immediately after will play Macalester College at 3:00 pm.
