Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stars Fall in First Game of Dominican Invite

River Forest, Ill. - The Dominican University women's soccer team hosted the University Wisconsin La Crosse Eagles to open up the first game of the Dominican Invite.

Results:
Uw La Crosse: 2
Dominican:0

How it Happened:
-Both team were feeling each other out in the first ten minutes of the game. DU had the lead in shots with 2 compared to the 1 for the Eagles. Sophomore Mackenzie Cuddihy and Junior Sarah Matuszek had those shots.
-That was the action in the first half with the score being scoreless going into the half.
-The second half started fast though with Wisconsin La Crosse earning a penalty two minutes into the half and converting on the penalty to make the score 1-0.
-UWL found another goal just 2 minutes late to make the score 2-0.
-DU was able to fire off 10 shots in the second half, but none of them finding the back of the net.
-Cuddihy and the Stars had a goal taken off the board from a set piece due to Dominican being offsides.
-Cuddihy and 5th Year Student Grace Larson each fired off 3 shots in the match.   
-Senior Sarah Grimmett made 8 saves in the match.  

Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Mackenzie Cuddihy stepped up for Dominican having 3 shots and one of those shots being on target.   
-Junior Sarah Matuszek had 2 shots with one of them being on target.
-5th Year Student Grace Larson had 3 shots but none of found the target.
-5th Year Student Sarah Grimmett started in net for Dominican and ended the evening with 8 saves.
-Junior Mia Dosen had one shot in the match and it found the target.

What's Next:
Dominican will be back in action on tomorrow Sunday September 8th at 2:30 pm against Wartburg College. This game will be the final game of the Dominican Invite.
