Stars Comeback Falls Short in First Game Back to the Igini

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University men's basketball team returned to the Igini Sports Forum for the first time in 2025, and their first time since December 14th. The Stars hosted the Eagles of Benedictine in their White Out game.
 
Results:
Benedictine: 94
Dominican: 81


How it Happened:
-Both teams would get out and running the first 10 minutes of the game with a combined 37 points. The Stars were facing a 22-15 deficit with 10 minutes to play in the first half.
-Benedictine extended their lead from 7 to 13 in just three minutes of play. DU is now facing a 33-20 deficit.
-The Stars started clawing their way back into the game with a three-point play by Senior Terrell Taylor and a layup by 5th year student Andre Bennett.
-Senior Daniel Nennig would cut the deficit for DU to just 8 after making a layup with 3:40 to play in the half.
-Dominican would be held to just one point in the final 3 minutes of the first half and would go into the break facing a 49-35 deficit.  
-The Stars shot 37% from the floor in the first half and went 5-6 from the charity stripe.
-DU came out of the break firing on all cylinders, cutting the BenU lead to just 4 points.
-on the 15-5 run for Dominican, they were getting contributions from Freshman Lucas Underwood, 5th year student Camron Scott, Junior Dominic Crapia, and T. Taylor. The score was 54-50 with 15 minutes left to play.  
-After the Dominican run, it was time for the Eagles to go on a run, and they pushed their lead back out to 10.
-The Stars continued to fight, with Underwood scoring five straight points for Dominican.
-DU tried to find one last run to get the deficit within 10 points, but every time BenU was able to stop the momentum.
-Dominican went 20-22 from the free throw line in the game.


Shining Stars:
-Senior Terrell Taylor led the way for the Stars with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and shot 6-7 from the free throw line.
-5th year student Andre Bennett has continued to shine off the bench for DU, scoring 16 points.
-5th year student Camron Scott was all over the floor for the Stars, collecting 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and a blocked shot.
-Freshman Lucas Underwood found his groove tonight, scoring 12 points on 4-7 shooting.

What's Next:
Dominican University Men's Basketball will be right back at the Igini Sports Forum Saturday, January 12th, for their second of three straight home games. Saturday's game is Alumni Day for the basketball program. Tip-off between Dominican and Concordia Wisconsin is set for 1:00 pm.
