River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University men's basketball team hosted the Concordia University of Wisconsin Falcons in game one of the double-header on Alumni Day.
Results:
Dominican: 90
Concordia Wisconsin: 72
How it Happened:
-Dominican started off rolling in the first half with the help of Freshman
Lucas Underwood, who hit his first two shots, getting the Stars to a 5-2 lead.
-Senior
Daniel Nennig chipped in early with two early buckets, getting the lead to 17-9 with 13 minutes left in the half.
-Concordia Wisconsin went on their run, cutting the Dominican lead to just 1 with 9 minutes left to go.
-Underwood continued his hot shooting, converting on a four-point play that put the Stars back up 9 points. Underwood did not stop there though, scoring six more points on back-to-back possessions.
-DU would take a 45-34 lead into the half while shooting 45%. Aside from the 45% from the floor, Dominican shot 45% from three and 12-12 from the charity stripe.
-Sophomore
Dean O'Brien started things off for Dominican, getting two early buckets for the Stars to keep the lead at 12.
-5
th year student
Camron Scott stopped the 6-0 run of CUW with a tip-in layup. Junior
Dominic Crapia followed it up with six straight points of his own, including a four-point play.
-The Stars and the Falcons continued to trade buckets until about 4:20 left to play when 5
th year student
Andre Bennett started the final run for DU.
-Dominican shot an unbelievable 53% from the floor in the second half and put up 45 points in both halves.
Shining Stars:
-Freshman
Lucas Underwood caught fire in the first half, scoring 17 of his 18 points in the first half. Underwood collected 7 total assists, and 6 of those came in the second half.
-Senior
Daniel Nennig put up 13 points tonight for DU on 5 of 6 shooting.
-5
th year student
Andre Bennett collected 12 points, 2 assists, and 3 rebounds in his 20 minutes off the bench.
-Freshman
Braydon Murphy contributed with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and a block in his first collegiate start.
-Sophomore
Dean O'Brien found himself with 8 points and 3 steals in 17 minutes.
-Junior
Dominic Crapia found his shot in the second half, scoring 8 points on 3 of 5 shooting, including a four-point play.
