Lisle, Ill. – Dominican University Women's Basketball faced off against Benedictine University for the final contest of a two-game road stretch.
Results:
Dominican: 41

How it Happened:
-After the Stars fell behind early 4-0, Freshman
Danielle Washington connected from beyond the arc to start the scoring for Dominican.
-A pair of free throws made by Graduate Student
Melissa Gomez and a layup by Freshman
Elizabeth McCabe would see DU trailing 10-7.
-McCabe would finish another layup on the fast break before the end of the first quarter with Benedictine leading 12-9.
-The Stars would continue to battle in the 2
nd, with Gomez picking up 6 points in the frame but would find themselves trailing 22-19 at halftime.
-To start the 3
rd, Washington would hit her second three, and Junior
Kamila Gajkowska would knock down a jumper to tie the game at 24 a piece at the 7-minute mark.
-Both Dominican and Benedictine would find themselves in the lead throughout the 3
rd quarter, with Freshman
Chenoa Moss providing DU a 35-32 lead heading into the 4
th after a pair of made free throws.
-Moss would get a layup to go after a surge from Benedictine to start the final frame, regaining the advantage for the Stars at 37-36.
-Benedictine would answer with a 6-0 run over the next 2 minutes which was ended by a layup from Moss and two made free throws from Sophomore
Lia Saunders.
-Benedictine would pull away from DU in the closing moments, as the Stars would fall by a final of 50-41.
-Dominican struggled offensively, only shooting 19.3% from the field and 21.4% from three. The Stars were able to score 18 points off of turnovers compared to Benedictine's 6, but Benedictine held the advantage in points in the paint, 44 to 10.
-DU was able to hold Benedictine to 0 made threes on 11 attempts, marking their first time holding an opponent scoreless from three this season.

-Freshman
Danielle Washington led the way for the Stars with 11 points while chipping in 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and a block.
-Graduate Student
Melissa Gomez added 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
-Freshman
Chenoa Moss collected 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 steal.
-Freshman
Elizabeth McCabe was DU's leading scorer off the bench with 7 points and also added a steal.

Dominican University Women's Basketball moves to 5-9 on the campaign and a 1-4 record in conference play. The Stars will look to bounce back at home on Saturday, January 18
th against Concordia University Wisconsin for Alumni Day. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
