DU Stumbles at Home

River Forest, Ill. – Dominican University Women's Basketball hosted Concordia University Wisconsin for the second contest of Alumni Day.

   Results:
   Dominican: 51
   Concordia Wisconsin: 70

   How it Happened:
   -Freshman Chenoa Moss would score DU's first five points to open the game with the Stars trailing 6-5.
   -Sophomore Aya Deiri would tie the contest at 7-7 after knocking down a jumper halfway through the 1st quarter.  
   -CUW would close out the 1st on a 12-3 run and hold a 19-10 advantage heading into the 2nd quarter.
   -Freshman Jasmina Jenkins and Freshman Elizabeth McCabe would knock down back-to-back threes to bring DU back within 9 at the midpoint of the 2nd quarter.
   -Sophomore Lia Saunders would nail a pair of free throws to close out the 2nd quarter with Dominican trailing 38-25.
   -Graduate Student Melissa Gomez would drill a three to open the 3rd.
   -DU would pull within 6 after another Gomez jumper.
   -Saunders would put an end to a 6-0 run for the Falcons.
   -The Stars would head into the final quarter trailing 57-41.
   -Dominican could not establish their footing in the 4th and fell by a final of 70-51.
   -DU shot 28.6% from the field and 15% from behind the arc. Both teams had 10 points on second-chance opportunities.

   Shining Stars:
   -Freshman Chenoa Moss was the leading scorer for DU, collecting 13 points while adding 5 rebounds.
   -Graduate Student Melissa Gomez finished with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and a steal.
   -Sophomore Aya Deiri posted 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block.
   -Sophomore Kaitlyn Milison added 6 points and 5 rebounds off the bench.

   What's Next:
   Dominican University Women's Basketball moves to 5-10 on the season and a 1-5 record in the conference. The Stars will be back on the road on Wednesday, January 22nd to take on the Illinois Institute of Technology. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
