Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stars Roll Past Scarlet Hawks on Home Court

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University men's basketball team hosted the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks for their final game of the three-game homestand.

Results:
Dominican: 81
Illinois Tech: 58


How it Happened:
-Illinois Tech jumped to a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game. Freshman Braydon Murphy ended the Scarlet Hawks run with the first DU points at the 17:39 mark.
-It was time for a Stars run in the game and they did just that going on a 12-0 run with baskets from Junior Dominic Crapia, 5th Year Student Andre Bennett, and Senior Terrell Taylor.
-The Dominican defense tightened up on the Scarlet Hawks only holding them to 5 points in the last 10 minutes of the half.
-The Stars pushed the lead out 44-26 going into the halftime break. DU shot 47% from the field in the first half.  
- Illinois Tech came out the break on a little run cutting the Dominican lead to just 11 with 14:35 minutes to play.
-5th year student Camron Scott brought the energy back for the Stars with a dunk assisted by Freshman Lucas Underwood. Scott would finish the second half with 10 points in the second half alone.
-Junior Allister Richardson checked in with 2:39 minutes left to play and scored 7 points in that span.
-The Stars shot 39% from the floor in the second half and 50% from downtown.
-DU won the bench points battle to the score of 54-12  

Shining Stars:
-5th Year Student Camron Scott put up his 5th double-double of the season collecting 15 points and 10 rebounds. This being good enough to lead in both categories for the game. Scott also collected 3 steals in the game.
-Senior Daniel Nennig almost had a triple-double tonight finishing with 7 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists.
-Senior Terrell Taylor came off the bench for the Stars tonight and put up 14 points and 5 assists on 6-11 shooting.   
-Junior Dominic Crapia got going in the first half scoring 8 of his 11 points in the first half.
-Freshman Braydon Murphy started his second straight game and scored 6 points on 4-4 shooting from the charity stripe.

What's Next:
After winning 2 of 3 on the home court the Dominican University men's basketball team will try to start a win streak when they head to Marian University on Saturday, January 25th for a 4:30 p.m. tip-off.
