Stars Fall in First Game of 2025

Madison, Wis.- Dominican University Men's Basketball opened 2025 by returning to NACC conference play after a short stretch of non conference match-ups. The Stars faced off against the Eagles of Edgewood College.

   Results:
  Edgewood: 79
  Dominican: 66


   How it Happened:
   -The Stars would surge to an early 7-2 lead after a good lay-up from Senior Daniel Nennig.
   -5th-year Student Camron Scott would slam home a dish from Nennig to give Dominican an 11-6 advantage 5 minutes into the 1st half.
   -A pair of back-to-back layups from Senior Quante May extended the DU lead to 9 at the midpoint of the 1st half.
   -The Stars would struggle from the field for the rest of the 1st half and would head into the break down 36-34.
   -Senior Terrell Taylor would convert on a lay-up on the fast break to cut the Eagle lead back down to 2 with 5 minutes gone in the 2nd half.
   -The Eagle would begin to pull away in the middle of the 2nd half, but Senior Andre Bennett would knock down a 3 with 6:30 remaining to trim the Edgewood lead to 9.
   -Freshman Ismael Ndiaye would collect his 1st collegiate bucket with 3 minutes remaining and the Stars trailing by 10.
  -Dominican were unable to claw back into the contest and would fall by a final of 79-66.
  -DU struggled shooting-wise, going 23-61 37.7% from the field.

   Shining Stars:
   -5th-year Student Andre Bennett led the way for DU in the scoring department, collecting 13 points on 4-8 from the field.
   -5th-year Student Camron Scott tallied 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
   -Senior Terrell Taylor totaled 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.

   What's Next:
  Dominican University Men's Basketball moves to 3-9 on the season and is 0-5 in conference play with the loss. Their next contest will be on the road against the Spartans of Aurora University on Wednesday, January 8th. Tip-off in Aurora is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
