River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University women's basketball team hosted the Spartans of Aurora University for their first home game of the new year.
Results:
Aurora: 90
Dominican: 43
How it Happened:
-The first quarter was close for the first eight minutes of the game, with the score of 8-8 with 2:42 left in the quarter. Right after this, Aurora went on a 12-0 run to end the quarter. The Stars shot 36% in the quarter.
-Graduate Student
Melissa Gomez led with 4 points in the quarter.
-DU tried to dig out of the hole with Freshman
Elizabeth McCabe and
Lia Saunders each scoring 4 points in the second quarter.
-Dominican would go into the half facing a 41-23 deficit.
-The third quarter was DU's best offensive quarter, putting up 13 points on 35% shooting. The Spartans also put up their best quarter of the night with 27 points.
-Freshman
Chenoa Moss collected 4 points in the quarter.
-The comeback door would be slammed shut in the fourth quarter with Dominican only putting up 7 points in the final frame.
Shining Stars:
-Graduate Student
Melissa Gomez led the Stars in points with 11. Gomez collected 7 rebounds and went 3-5 from the floor.
-Freshman
Elizabeth McCabe has continued to show promise for DU with 9 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
-Junior
Kamila Gajkowska had 5 points on 2-2 shooting.
-Sophomore
Aya Deiri was all over the stat sheet, recording 4 points, 3 steals, 5 rebounds, and an assist.

What's Next:
Dominican University women's basketball will hit the road on Saturday to continue their NACC conference schedule. The Stars will play the Inferno of Alverno College. Tip-off will be at 1:00 pm.
