Cinque's Late Goal Salvages Draw for Stars

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Men's Soccer team returned to West Campus Field for a NACC battle with the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech Wednesday afternoon.


Results:
Dominican: 1
Illinois Tech: 1

How It Happened:
-In the 11th minute of the match, Junior Tristen Banquil fired the first shot of the match for Dominican that was blocked in front.
The score was 0-0 going into the halftime break. There were only 4 shots in the entire half; not one was on target.
-Banquil and Junior Ciaran Geraghty added the first two shots in the second half, but neither found the target.
-The Scarlet Hawks had a great build up in the 59th minute that resulted in the first goal of the game.
-Illinois Tech kept the pressure on the Stars with the next 5 shots of the match towards the net of the DU.
-Dominican subbed in Freshman Enzo Cinque into the match at the 73:59-minute mark of the match, just 18 seconds later, Cinque found himself in the right spot on the field that gave the Stars the equalizer. The assists on the goal were from Junior Nicholas Porada and Freshman Brenton DuBoise.  
-The Scarlet Hawks would regain possession, hoping to break the 1-1 tie, but were unable to do so in the final 9 minutes of play even though they had 4 shots in that time.

Shining Stars:
-Freshman Enzo Cinque scored the equalizer in his minutes off the bench.
-Junior Nicholas Porada recorded an assist.
-Freshman Brenton DuBoise contributed with an assist.
-Junior Tristen Banquil had 2 shots.
Junior Ciaran Geraghty added a shot.

What's Next:
Dominican University Men's Soccer moves to 4-7-3 (4-3-1 NACC) on the season. The Stars will be the second match at West Campus Field Saturday afternoon, when the Muskies of Lakeland University come to town. Kick-off between Dominican and Lakeland is set for 2:45 p.m.
