Garr Carries Stars to Victory on Senior Day

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Soccer team returned to West Campus Field Saturday afternoon after back-to-back home games and it being Senior Day.

Results:
Dominican: 3
Lakeland: 1

How it Happened:
-The Stars started off with lots of pressure on the Muskies in the first ten minutes of the match with 8 shots in the first 10 minutes. Senior Sarah Matuszek, Senior Sierra Rioux, Sophomore Tia Garr, Senior Kamryn Klinger, Senior Mia Dosen, and Senior Sarah Borsellino all recorded shots.
-Dominican found the first goal of the match from a shot outside the box from Garr that cruised in the back of the net to make it 1-0 DU.
-The Stars wanted more, firing off 9 shots in the next 9 minutes of play. Freshman MK Kluesner and Junior Mackenzie Cuddihy all got in on the action on shots.
-Freshman Logan Shanks and Junior Meghan Wilhite both checked into the match in the 27th minute, and neither of them took long to take some shots towards the net, with Shanks recording 1 and Wilhite recording 2 within 13 minutes of action.
-The Muskies did not back away from the challenge, finding the equalizer in the 42nd minute of the match.
-DU was hoping for one last push before the half, with Wilhite taking a shot on target that was saved by the Lakeland keeper.
-Dominican and Lakeland went into the half tied at 1, despite the Stars outshooting the Muskies 24-1 in the first half.
-The Stars responded out of the break with an early goal by Klinger, scoring her third goal of the season on a corner in the 50th minute of the match. Senior Mia Taullahu assisted on the game winner for DU.
-Dominican was not satisfied with a 2-1 lead and pushed forward for more goals and came up with a bunch of opportunities with 10 shots in the next 13 minutes of play. Senior Natalia Lopez got her first shots of the match during this stretch.
-After scoring her first goal of the season in the 20th minute, Garr added her second goal of the match in the 66th minute, which was unassisted.
-DU kept fighting for more as the second half went on, collecting 6 more shots in the next 10 minutes of play. Taullahu got in on the shot party here.
-The Stars did not slow down in the final 12 minutes of play, adding 8 more shots to their total of the game.
-Dominican came away with a 3-1 win over the Muskies while collecting 17 total corners in the match and 21 shots on goal.
-DU tallied 54 total shots in this afternoon's match; this is the most since 10/20/2021, when they had 55 total shots against Alverno in a 14-0 win.

  Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Tia Garr earned player of the match, collecting her first 2 goals of the season in today's match. Garr added 6 total shots, with 3 of those being on target.
-Senior Kamryn Klinger added a goal to her name today while collecting 5 shots.
-Senior Mia Taullahu assisted on the goal from Klinger and had 4 shots in the match, with all 4 of them being on target.
-Senior Mia Dosen tallied 9 total shots in the match with 2 of those on target.
-Senior Natalia Lopez played in all 90 minutes of the match and collected 4 shots, 2 of those being on frame.
-Senior Sarah Matuszek added 6 shots; 1 found the frame.
-Senior Sierra Rioux collected 3 shots; 2 were on target in her 60 minutes of play.
-Senior Sarah Borsellino fired 4 total shots. 1 of those was on target.
-Freshman MK Kluesner played in all 90 minutes of the match from the back line, where she picked up two shots; one was on frame.
-Freshman Logan Shanks came off the bench this afternoon for the Stars and added 2 shots to her name; 1 of those 2 hit the target.
-Junior Meghan Wilhite played 42 minutes off the bench and in that time collected 5 shots; 3 were on frame.

What's Next:
Dominican University Women's Soccer moves to 8-5-1 (6-3 NACC) on the season. The Stars will hit the road for three matches to end their season. The first will be on October 22nd, at Benedictine University for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off between the Stars and the Eagles.
