Dosen's First Career Hat Trick Lifts Stars Past Eagles

Lisle, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Soccer team started their three-game road trip to end the year at Benedictine University, Wednesday evening.

Results:
Dominican: 5

How it Happened:
-The Stars started off on the right foot in the match, earning the first three shots of the match. Senior Sierra Rioux and Senior Sarah Borsellino were the shot takers.
-Senior Mia Dosen scored the first goal of the match in the 17th minute of the game from inside the box assisted by Rioux.
-The Eagles struck the equalizer just 45 seconds later to make the score 1-1.
-Senior Kamryn Klinger collected the next shot for the Stars that was saved by the BenU goalie.
-Dosen netted her second goal in the 33rd minute of the match on a free-kick 24 yards from the net.
-After taking the lead, Dominican continued to step on the gas, sending 4 more shots in the span of 9 minutes; Senior Sarah Matuszek sent off three of those shots. Dosen added the fourth.
-Dosen bagged her first career hat trick in the 45th minute of the match on a shot 25 yards from the net that flew into the top left corner of the net.
-The Stars went into the break with a 3-1 lead and collected 12 shots compared to the Eagles' 1.
-DU started off right where they ended the first half, with Junior Mackenzie Cuddihy scoring a goal from the corner spot, making the score 4-1 in favor of Dominican.
-Matuszek fired two more shots for the Stars shortly after the goal, alongside Rioux, adding another shot to her total.
-Matuszek added the final goal of the game in the 85th minute on a shot inside the box; the assist came from Junior Meghan Wilhite.

  Shining Stars:
-Senior Mia Dosen earned Star of the match, collecting her first career hat trick in her 67 minutes of play. Dosen had 3 goals out of 3 total shots.
-Senior Sarah Matuszek was feeling it with 7 total shots in the match; 3 of those found the target, and 1 was in the back of the net.
-Junior Mackenzie Cuddihy scored on her only shot of the evening.
-Senior Sarah Borsellino collected 3 total shots; only one hit the target.
-Senior Sierra Rioux has continued to be a huge factor offensively for DU, earning an assist with a shot on goal.
-Junior Meghan Wilhite collected an assist in her 27 minutes of the play.

Dominican University Women's Soccer moves to 9-5-1 (7-3 NACC) on the season. The Stars officially clinch a spot in the NACC tournament. DUWSOC currently holds the 4th seed in the tournament with two games left to play. Dominican will travel to Milwaukee, Wis, for their next match against the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
