Men's Soccer Prepares for North Central

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Men's Soccer team returns home amid a four-game win streak and will put it to the test in their final nonconference game of the year against North Central.

Series History vs. North Central:
All-Time Record / Streak: 5-2-2 / T1
-Dominican and North Central first played in Arlington Heights, Illinois on 11/2/2002 (T, 1-1).
-The Stars largest margin of victory over NCC came on 9/7/2005 (6-0).
-DU averages 2.0 goals per game against the Cardinals.
-Dominican and North Central last played on 9/18/2019. The match resulted in a 0-0 draw.

DU in Review:
-DU holds a 4-4-2 (4-1 NACC) record this season.
-Dominican finished the 2024 season with a 12-5-4 record, including going 8-1-3 in conference and 7-2-2 at home.
-The Stars notched the second seed in the NACC Tournament. After a thrilling 3-2 victory over Concordia Wisconsin in the Quarterfinals, DU stumbled in the semis, losing 5-0 to MSOE.
-Head Coach Erick Baumann enters his 31st season at the helm of the Dominican Men's Soccer program. Baumann has amassed an impressive 463-119-50 (.772) record in that time.

-Junior Tristen Banquil 's brace, including a free kick in the 83rd minute pushed the Stars past Concordia Wisconsin 3-2 on Wednesday.

-Freshman Cody Leyba made 3 saves between the sticks.

Star Gazing:
-Junior Tristen Banquil has been the focal point of DU's attack, notching the team lead in goals (5), shots (33), and shots on target (12).
-Sophomore Jonathan Almaguer has caught form in the midpoint of the season, as he is 2nd on the squad in goals with 3, joint-top with 2 assists, and has recorded 17 shots.
-Junior Ciaran Geraghty has anchored the backline for DU, leading the squad with 900 minutes played.
-Freshman Cody Leyba has tallied 30 saves throughout the season.
-Senior Ryan Gutierrez has been a staple in the midfield with 2 goals and has started in all 10 matches. Gutierrez has 807 minutes played.
 
Familiar Faces:
-Sophomore Nathan Lara is back to don the Navy and Gold as the leading goal scorer among returners from last season with 2. Lara appeared in 6 matches and notched a start during the 2024 campaign.
-Sophomore Jonathan Almaguer returns to the midfield for DU. Almaguer registered a goal and an assist in 14 appearances last season.
-Senior Brendan Gavin resumes his place as the holding midfielder for the Stars. Gavin posted 15 appearances and logged 776 minutes in 2024.
-Junior Ciaran Geraghty looks to step in as a permanent fixture in Dominican's back four after charting 16 appearances and a goal last season.


Scouting Report:
-North Central is 4-1-4 on the 2025 season with a 1-0 record in the CCIW.
-The Cardinals are on a two-game win streak after defeating Carroll 6-0 on Saturday, September 27th and Trine 1-0 on Wednesday, October 1st.
-NCC is 1-1-2 away from home this year.
