Men's Soccer Prepares to Host Benedictine

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Men's Soccer team will look to build towards the NACC Tournament against Benedictine on Wednesday.

Series History vs. Benedictine:
All-Time Record / Streak: 22-5-2 / W2
-Dominican and Benedictine first played on 9/11/2002 in River Forest (W, 3-0).
-The Stars have scored 98 goals in 29 games against the Eagles, which averages to 3.38 goals per match.
-DU's largest margin of victory over BenU was on 10/20/2004 (W, 12-1).
-Dominican is 15-2-1 at West Campus Field against the Eagles.
-The Stars and Eagles' last matchup was on 9/25/2024, with DU winning at home by a final of 3-1.

DU in Review:
-DU holds a 5-7-2 (5-3-1 NACC) record this season.
-Dominican finished the 2024 season with a 12-5-4 record, including going 8-1-3 in conference and 7-2-2 at home.

-Head Coach Erick Baumann enters his 31st season at the helm of the Dominican Men's Soccer program. Baumann has amassed an impressive 463-119-50 (.772) record in that time.

-Junior Nicholas Porada bagged his first 2 goals of the season while adding 3 shots on target.
-Freshman Vinni Da Silva, Sophomore Jonathan Almaguer, Junior Tristen Banquil, and Junior Ciaran Geraghty all recorded an assist in the contest.
-Freshman Enzo Cinque notched 4 shots.


Star Gazing:
-Junior Tristen Banquil has been the focal point of DU's attack, notching the team lead in goals (5), shots (40), and shots on target (14).
-Sophomore Jonathan Almaguer caught form in the midpoint of the season, as he is 2nd on the squad in goals with 3, second in assists with 3, and has recorded 22 shots.
-Junior Ciaran Geraghty has anchored the backline for DU, leading the squad with 1350 minutes played.
-Freshman Cody Leyba has tallied 36 saves throughout the season.
-Senior Ryan Gutierrez has been a staple in the midfield with 2 goals and has started in all 15 matches. Gutierrez has 1187 minutes played.
 
Familiar Faces:
-Sophomore Nathan Lara is back to don the Navy and Gold as the leading goal scorer among returners from last season with 2. Lara appeared in 6 matches and notched a start during the 2024 campaign.
-Sophomore Jonathan Almaguer returns to the midfield for DU. Almaguer registered a goal and an assist in 14 appearances last season.
-Senior Brendan Gavin resumes his place as the holding midfielder for the Stars. Gavin posted 15 appearances and logged 776 minutes in 2024.
-Junior Ciaran Geraghty looks to step in as a permanent fixture in Dominican's back four after charting 16 appearances and a goal last season.


NACC Playoff Picture:
-Dominican will head into the contest against Benedictine in 6th, with the Eagles behind them in the table at 7th.
-Edgewood, Aurora, MSOE, and St. Norbert have all clinched a berth in the NACC Tournament, with all seed lines still up for grabs.

Scouting Report:
-Benedictine is 5-6-3 on the 2025 season with a 4-3-2 record in the NACC.
-The Eagles took down Marian at home on Saturday by a final score of 2-1.
-BenU is 2-1-1 over its last four games.
-The Eagles are 2-3-1 away from home.
-Benedictine has scored 25 goals this season (1.79 goals per game) and has accumulated 160 shots over the year (11.4 shots per game).
