Aurora, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's volleyball team traveled to Aurora to face off against the Spartans on Thursday.

How it Happened:
-Aurora went on a 10-0 run to start the match, but it was ended after a kill by Senior
Veronica Henkel followed by an ace by Sophomore
Fabiana Pizzo.
-DU could not claw back into the set and dropped the opening frame by a score of 25-10. Junior
Jillian Ross and Junior
Kathryn Ksiezak each had a block and a kill in the opening frame.
-The Stars had a better start in the second set, trailing 10-7 following a kill by Ksiezak.
-AU ran away with Set 2 and took a 2-0 lead, winning the frame 25-10. Senior
Ellery Shea had 2 kills in the second.
-Dominican rebounded to start the third set, taking a 9-6 lead after a block by Ksiezak and Shea.
-The Spartans stormed to a 16-11 lead, but two points for DU, including a kill by
Jaylynn Miller, brought the score to 16-13.
-After a 3-0 run by Ksiezak at the line, the Stars were down 21-20. Aurora then won 4 of the last 5 points and closed the match, winning Set 3, 25-21.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Ellery Shea was the focal point of DU's attack, claiming 6 kills while adding a block and 3 digs.
-Junior
Kathryn Ksiezak notched 4 kills and 2 blocks.
-Freshman
Karolina Stonkus led the Stars in assists (15), aces (4), and digs (9).

What's Next:
Dominican University Women's Volleyball is now 2-16 (1-7 NACC) on the season. The Stars will be back home on Saturday, October 25
th, to take on Wisconsin Lutheran. The match against the Warriors will begin at 12:00 p.m.
