Men's Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season Wednesday

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Men's Soccer team closes out their regular season slate at home against Concordia Chicago on Wednesday.

Series History vs. Concordia Chicago:
All-Time Record / Streak: 28-1 / W9
-Dominican and Concordia Chicago first played on 10/22/2002 in River Forest, Ill (W, 5-1).
-DU's only loss to CUC came on 10/18/2017 at home by a final of 1-0.
-The Stars are 17-1 at home against the Cougars.
-DU has accumulated 132 goals against Concordia Chicago, which averages to 4.55 goals per match.

DU in Review:
-DU holds a 6-7-4 (6-3-2 NACC) record this season.
-Dominican finished the 2024 season with a 12-5-4 record, including going 8-1-3 in conference and 7-2-2 at home.
-The Stars notched the second seed in the NACC Tournament. After a thrilling 3-2 victory over Concordia Wisconsin in the Quarterfinals, DU stumbled in the semis, losing 5-0 to MSOE.

Star Gazing:
-Junior Tristen Banquil has been the focal point of DU's attack, notching the team lead in goals (5), shots (40), and shots on target (14).
-Sophomore Jonathan Almaguer caught form in the midpoint of the season, as he is 2nd on the squad in goals with 3, second in assists with 3, and has recorded 22 shots.
-Junior Ciaran Geraghty has anchored the backline for DU, leading the squad with 1440 minutes played.
-Freshman Cody Leyba has tallied 37 saves throughout the season.
-Senior Ryan Gutierrez has been a staple in the midfield with 2 goals and has started in all 17 matches. Gutierrez has 1367 minutes played.
 
Familiar Faces:
-Sophomore Nathan Lara is back to don the Navy and Gold as the leading goal scorer among returners from last season with 2. Lara appeared in 6 matches and notched a start during the 2024 campaign.
-Sophomore Jonathan Almaguer returns to the midfield for DU. Almaguer registered a goal and an assist in 14 appearances last season.
-Senior Brendan Gavin resumes his place as the holding midfielder for the Stars. Gavin posted 15 appearances and logged 776 minutes in 2024.
-Junior Ciaran Geraghty looks to step in as a permanent fixture in Dominican's back four after charting 16 appearances and a goal last season.


NACC Playoff Picture:
-Dominican has officially clinched a spot in the NACC Tournament, holding the 6th spot in the table.
-The Stars will look to leapfrog Illinois Tech for 5th, with both squads on 20 points. The Scarlet Hawks play Rockford on Wednesday.
-DU will be on the road for the NACC Quarterfinal to take on MSOE or St. Norbert on Saturday.

Scouting Report:
-Concordia Chicago is 1-14-2 overall on the 2025 season, with a 0-10-1 record in the NACC.
-The Cougars are 0-5-1 away from home.
-CUC is in the midst of a three game losing streak, with losses to Wisconsin Lutheran, Edgewood, and Marian.
-Concordia Chicago's last win came on September 1st, with a 6-2 final over Andrews University.
-The Cougars have scored 19 goals on the season (1.06 goals per game) and has accumulated 176 shots over the year (10.4 shots per game).
