Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Dominican University Men's Basketball team traveled to Kalamazoo to take on the Hornets on Saturday.

How it Happened:
-The Stars fell behind 5-0 to open the game, but gathered their footing after a layup by Sophomore
Braydon Murphy and a three by Senior
Dominic Crapia.
-Kalamazoo went on a 10-0 run in the middle portion of the first half. Sophomore
Emmanuel Fuller was able to break the scoreless streak for DU after converting on a layup.
-After falling behind 33-11, Dominican began to find its scoring touch, going on a 7-0 run, which was capped off by a three by Freshman
Joseph Jones on the fast break.
-In the final two minutes of the first half, Murphy, Fuller, and Freshman
Elijah Daugherty added two points apiece to cut the Hornet lead to 40-29 heading into halftime.
-Both squads traded buckets to open the second half, including a three by Murphy at the 16:11 mark, which cut the KZoo lead to 9.
-The three by Murphy sparked a 10-0 run for the Stars, as a three by Junior
Antony Fernandez on the fast break brought DU back within two, trailing 46-44 with 14:25 to go.
-Dominican kept it tight with the Hornets, but a 13-0 run for Kalamazoo from 10:14 to 5:48 put the Stars behind by 19.
-DU mounted a comeback effort, including three-pointers by Fernandez, Jones, and Freshman
Chase LeFevre in the final five minutes.
-The Stars were unable to complete the comeback and were bested by Kalamazoo by a final score of 83-75.
-Dominican shot 42.9% from the field, 37.5% from three, and 58.1% from the free throw line.
-DU had 39 points come from the bench compared to KZoo's 31.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore
Braydon Murphy continued his strong start to the season by posting 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, a steal, and was 3-4 from the field.
-Freshman
Elijah Daugherty put up a new career-high in points (11), rebounds (4), assists (3), and minutes (28).
-Sophomore
Emmanuel Fuller dropped a career-high 10 points on 5-7 shooting from the floor.
-Freshman
Joseph Jones made an impact off the bench for the Stars, collecting a career-high 10 points on 4-5 shooting.

What's Next:
The Dominican University Men's Basketball team moves to 0-2 on the season. The Stars will travel to Indianola, Iowa, for the Bruce Wilson Shootout on Friday, November 21
st. The first game of the invite pits DU against Simpson College with an 8:00 p.m. tip-off. Following the game against Simpson, Dominican will face an opponent yet to be determined to cap the weekend on Saturday, November 22
nd.
