River Forest, Ill. – The #4 Dominican University Women's Soccer team hosted the #5 Concordia Wisconsin Falcons for the NACC Tournament quarterfinal on Sunday.

How it Happened:
-Dominican dominated possession within the first 10 minutes of the contest, with DU's best chance coming in the 10
th minute after
Tia Garr found space, but her shot was denied by the Falcon keeper.
-CUW settled into the game, and both teams would fight for an opener throughout the first half.
-Sophomore
Gianna Stanek made a big save to keep things scoreless in the 35
th minute.
-The score remained 0-0 heading into the halftime break. The Stars outshot Concordia Wisconsin 9-2 in the opening 45 minutes.
-In the 52
nd minute, Junior
Mackenzie Cuddihy booted a ball forward into the CUW box. After the keeper spilled the cross, Junior
Meghan Wilhite pounced on the loose ball and opened the goal scoring with her 6
th goal of the season.
-Concordia Wisconsin was determined for an equalizer, and would strike on a rebound to make the score 1-1 in the 58
th minute.
-After conceding the goal, the Stars went back on the offensive, as Senior
Sarah Matuszek had a shot turned away.
-Wilhite and Sophomore
Ariana Barney then both hit the post in the span of a minute in the 62
nd minute.
-After great buildup play by the Stars, Matuszek whipped a cross into the box. Barney re-directed the ball to the penalty spot, where Wilhite buried her 2
nd of the afternoon and 7
th of the season to regain the lead for DU.
-Dominican looked to add an insurance marker, but Matuszek and Senior
Mia Dosen had efforts on goal saved.
-Clutch goalkeeping by Stanek in the final 10 minutes preserved the Dominican lead.
-The Stars survived and advanced to the NACC Tournament semifinals, taking down Concordia Wisconsin by a final score of 2-1.

Meghan Wilhite proved to be the difference maker on the pitch, collecting 2 goals and 6 shots.
-Senior
Sarah Matuszek recorded 2 shots on target and an assist.
-Sophomore
Ariana Barney notched an assist on the 2
nd Wilhite goal.
-Sophomore
Tia Garr was dominant in the midfield for DU, firing 2 shots on target and logging all 90 minutes.

Gianna Stanek made 5 saves in the win.
