Chicago, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Basketball team traveled to Chicago, Illinois for a battle with the Vikings of North Park University after a week off from competition.
Results:
Dominican: 58
North Park: 57
How it Happened:
-It was a back-and-forth battle to start the game until Junior
Aya Deiri scored 6 of the 12 points late in the quarter to give Dominican a 16-10 lead with less then two minutes left.
-Dominican led 16-14 after the first quarter of play with Deiri being the leading scorer with 6 points. Freshman
Eva Herbig and Junior
Teagan Dahl each chipped in with a three in the quarter. DU shot an incredible 50% from the floor in the first.
-Juniors
Kaitlyn Milison and
Lia Saunders gave DU the lead back early in the second quarter with back-to-back buckets.
-After three pointers scored by Deiri and Junior
Olivia Genthner the Stars and Vikings went into the halftime break tied at 26.
-Dominican shot 48% in the first half while going 4-7 from downtown.
-The Stars went on a 6-0 run to start the second half with Saunders hitting two free throws, just ten seconds into the third quarter. Freshman
Kennedy Yost followed it up with back-to-back layups.
-Yost would score 7 straight points for Dominican holding that lead for Dominican.
-Genthner would end the quarter with two layups inside 30 seconds. This gave DU 16 points in the quarter on 40% shooting in the third.
-The Stars went into the final frame with a 42-39 lead over NPU.
-Freshman
Allannah Jackson ignited a run for Dominican in the middle of the quarter. Jackson got to the free-throw line and made the score 45-42. After the run the Stars were up 53-46, with Genthner, Saunders, Dahl all getting in the scoresheet in the run for DU.
-As the game of basketball is, the Vikings then went on a run and took the lead 54-53 with a minute left to play.
-Dahl scored the next bucket for Dominican with 57 seconds left to give the lead back to DU.
-Dominican found themselves down one with 47 seconds left and Saunders had something to say about that making a layup to give Dominican the lead back.
-North Park tied the game up at the free-throw line. 15 seconds later Saunders found herself at the line and gave the Stars the lead.
-The Dominican defense did the rest grabbing the rebound on the missed NPU shot to secure their second straight victory.
-The Stars shot 48.8% in this matchup with the Vikings and had 30 points in the paint, 20 points off turnovers and 21 points off the bench.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Lia Saunders earned player of the game in this one collecting 12 points, 4 steals, and 7 assists. Saunders was tied in team high of minutes with 31.
-Junior
Teagan Dahl was in double-figures with 10 points on 4-6 shooting.
-Junior
Aya Deiri was all over the floor for Dominican collecting 9 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds, and an assist.
-Freshman
Kennedy Yost added 9 points for DU, in her stellar freshman season. Yost also collected 4 rebounds.
-Junior
Olivia Genthner shot a perfect 3-3 from the floor scoring 8 points and grabbing 3 rebounds.

What's Next:
Dominican University Women's Basketball improved to 3-1 on the 2025-2026 season. This marks the best start for DUWBB since the 2019-2020 season when they started 5-1. The Stars will wrap up their 4-game road trip with their next game at Monmouth College on November 29th, tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
