Dominican Bested by Cougars

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Basketball team was back at home to square off against Concordia Chicago on Wednesday night.

 Results:
Dominican: 55
Concordia Chicago: 66

 How it Happened:
-After CUC took an early 8-5 lead, Freshman Eva Herbig knocked down a three to tie the game at 8-8 at the 5:54 mark of the first quarter.
-The Cougars ended the quarter outscoring the Stars 16-7 and led 24-15 after one. Junior Lia Saunders tallied 5 points in the first.
-The Stars struggled to open the second quarter, as a jumper by Freshman Kennedy Yost stopped a 7-0 CUC run to open the second.
-Freshman Emily Bouaphanh and Freshman Xi Le O'Neill contributed 4 points during the second quarter. Dominican trailed 39-21 heading into the break.
-In the third quarter, Junior Kaitlyn Milison became a spark off the bench, posting 5 points in the frame.
-Contributions from Herbig and Freshman Allanah Jackson saw the Stars behind 55-33 at the start of the final quarter.
-Dominican fought their way through the fourth, as Herbig knocked down three shots from deep and Junior Teagan Dahl added 4 points.
-In the end, the Stars dropped the contest to the Cougars by a final score of 66-55.
-DU outscored Concordia Chicago 22-11 in the final frame.
-The Stars shot 28.3% from the field, 21.4% from three, and 60.0% from the line.

 Shining Stars:
 -Freshman Eva Herbig posted career highs in points (15), field goals made (5), and 3-point field goals made (5).
-Junior Kaitlyn Milison posted 11 points and 4 rebounds.
-Junior Lia Saunders contributed 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals.
-Sophomore Allanah Jackson notched 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.
-Freshman Kennedy Yost tallied 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

 What's Next:
 Dominican University Women's Basketball falls to 3-4 on the 2025-2026 season and 0-3 in NACC play. DU will be back in action at home for its 'Tis the Week of Giving game against Maranatha Baptist on Saturday, December 13th. Tip-off against the Sabercats is slated for 3:15 p.m.
