Stars Shoot the Lights Out in Return to the Igini Sports Forum

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Men's Basketball team was back in the Igini Sports Forum after being on the road for a month.

Results:
Dominican: 93
Benedictine: 84

 How it Happened:
 -Sophomore Ismael Ndiaye got the scoring going for the Stars with a corner three a minute into the game.
-Sophomores Frank Paszkowski and Braydon Murphy scored the next 8 points for DU, with Paszkowski hitting two jumpers, one of them being a three.
-After being down by 8 points halfway through the first half, Dominican clawed back into the game and took the lead after Paszkowski hit his second three of the first half.
-The Stars pulled away from the Eagles late in the half, with Freshman Elijah Daugherty making six straight points to push the DU lead to 10.
-Dominican went into the halftime break with the score being 49-39.
-Paszkowski led the way with 13 points in the half, with Murphy collecting 11 and Daugherty adding 10 off the bench.
DU shot 61.5% from the floor in the first half and went 6-11 from downtown.
-Paszkowski picked up right where he left off hitting back-to-back threes to open the half and to give the Stars an 18-point lead with 18 minutes left in the game.
-The score held between a thirteen-and-seventeen-point lead for Dominican for the majority of the second half, Sophomore Emmanual Fuller gave the Stars a 20-point lead with just over six minutes to play.
-Benedictine did not go away lightly, though, cutting the DU lead to just 10 points with two minutes to play.
-The Stars put the Eagles away at the free-throw line, hitting 6 of 8 from the charity stripe in the last minute of the game.
-Dominican shot 59.6% from the floor and an incredible 47.4% from downtown.
-DU had 34 bench points compared to the Eagles' 11.
-The Stars had 38 points in the paint.

 Shining Stars:
 -Sophomore Frank Paszkowski earned himself Star of the Game, collecting 23 points on 8-12 shooting from the floor and 5-8 behind the arc. 23 points is a new career high for the freshman.
-Freshman Elijah Daugherty added 18 points off the bench in 22 minutes played. Daugherty also grabbed 6 rebounds.
-Sophomore Braydon Murphy has continued to be a monster on the glass, collecting 14 rebounds. Murphy also added 17 points, 2 blocks, and 5 assists.
-Sophomore Emmanuel Fuller played big minutes off the bench with 13 points, a steal, and a block.
-Sophomore Ismael Nidaye logged 11 points and 5 assists.
-Freshman Chase LeFervre was all over the stat sheet, collecting 8 points, 4 steals, 1 block, 3 assists, and 6 rebounds.

 What's Next:
 The Dominican University Men's Basketball team improves to 1-5 (1-1 NACC) on the season. The Stars will welcome Division Street rivals Concordia University Chicago Wednesday night as the second game of the double-header against the Cougars. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and make sure to wear your gold for the GOLD RUSH!
