Naperville, Ill. – The Dominican University Softball team was back in action after a 12-game hiatus due to weather. The Stars played the Cardinals of North Central College for a two-game set.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 10
North Central: 3
How it Happened:
-The Stars started the party by scoring a run in the top of the first inning. Junior
Ryley Davis hit an RBI single to right field, scoring Senior Liliana Santoyo.
-Dominican's offense exploded scoring 6 runs on 4 hits in the second inning. Senior
Hanna Voegtle brought home the first run with an RBI single to left field, that scored Sophomore
Kailee Diaz Randall. Junior
Leilani Guzman scored on a wild pitch for DU to score the second run of the inning.
-Dominican was not done yet in the top of the second inning with Ry. Davis hitting a ball to second base that brought two runners home on an error. Freshman
Raegyn Davis brought home her older sister Ryley with an RBI double to left center field. Diaz Randall brought home the final run of the inning with an RBI single to left field that scored Senior
Gillian Czubernat.
-NCC got on the board in their half of the second inning scoring two runs on three hits.
-The score would be 7-2 in favor of the Stars going to the third.
-The score remained 7-2 until the top of the 6
th inning when DU added two runs to their total. Ry. Davis hit a sacrifice fly to right field that brought Guzman home. Rae. Davis hit her second RBI double of the game that brought home Santoyo.
-North Central got one of the runs back scoring a run on two hits in the bottom of the 6
th.
-Dominican added another run in the top of the seventh inning with Freshman
Madisen Butler hitting an RBI single to left field that brought home Freshman
Kayla Amormino.
-Senior
Emma Woodhouse closed out the Cardinals by going three-up and three-down in the bottom of the seventh giving DU their first win since March 6
th.
Shining Stars:
-Freshman
Raegyn Davis led the Stars going 2-4 with 2 RBIs, a run scored, and two doubles.
-Junior
Ryley Davis has continued to roll this season going 1-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo had a fantastic day at the plate going 3-4 with 3 runs scored, a stolen base, and a double.
-Sophomore
Kailee Diaz Randall went 1-3 with an RBI, a run scored, and a walk.
-Senior
Hanna Voegtle went 1-3 with an RBI.
-Freshman
Madisen Butler has continued to be a pinch-hit machine going 1-1 with an RBI.
Senior
Emma Woodhouse started in the circle for the Stars and threw a complete game with 3 strikeouts and only allowed 3 earned runs.

How it Happened:
-Once again the Stars struck in the top of the first inning with Junior
Ryley Davis hitting a single to right field that brought home Senior Liliana Santoyo on an error by the right fielder.
-The Cardinals tied the game right back up in their half of the first by scoring a run on two hits.
-Dominican took the lead right back in the third inning with Freshman
Raegyn Davis hitting an RBI single through the right side.
-DU added two more runs in the fourth with Ry. Davis hitting a two-RBI double to right center field that brought home Santoyo for the third time in the game, and Freshman
Isabella Olmos.
-After giving up the run in the first inning Freshman
Rhiannon Rubio buckled down and did not allow a run the rest of the game. Rubio picked up a strikeout and only allowed 6 hits in the game.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Ryley Davis was on fire going 2-2 with a walk, 2 RBIs, and a double.
-Freshman
Raegyn Davis continued her stellar game by going 1-4 with an RBI.
-Senior Liliana Santoyo went 1-2 with a walk, and 3 runs scored.
-Freshman
Rhiannon Rubio had one of her best performances of her young career going 7 innings and only allowing one run with a strikeout.

The Davis sisters set the tone for Dominican this afternoon going 6-13 with 7 RBIs, 3 doubles, 2 runs scored, and a walk on the day.
What's Next:
Dominican University Softball improves to 8-4 on the season and 2-0 away from Rosemont. The Stars will have their home opener on Sunday with the Forester of Lake Forest College coming to The Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex. Game one of the doubleheader will be at 1:00 p.m.
