River Grove, Ill. – The Dominican University Softball team started their conference schedule and first home game at Triton College today for an NACC game against the Falcons of Concordia Wisconsin.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 5
Concordia Wisconsin: 2
How it Happened:
-Dominican would get the party started in the bottom of the first inning with the Davis sisters hitting back-to-back RBI doubles. Junior
Ryley Davis hit the first double off the wall in left-center field that brought home Freshman
Isabella Olmos. Freshman
Raegyn Davis traded places with her older sister home with a double to center field.
-DU kept the pressure on with Senior
Hanna Voegtle hitting a solo homerun in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 3-0.
-CUW bats came to life in the 3
rd scoring 2 runs on 2 hits.
-The score remained 3-2 in favor of the Stars until the bottom of the sixth inning when DU got some insurance runs. Junior
Paytin Salfi brought in the first with a ground ball to shortstop. The second run of the inning came off the bat of Freshman
Madisen Butler hitting another pinch-hit RBI single that scored Junior
Leilani Guzman from second base.
-Dominican went into the final inning with a 5-2 lead and that is all the Senior
Emma Woodhouse would need, getting Falcons three-up three-down in the top of the seventh. This earned Woodhouse a complete game and her 5
th win of the season.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Emma Woodhouse went 7 complete innings with 4 strikeouts and allowed 2 earned runs.
-Senior
Hanna Voegtle led the Stars going 2-3 with a homerun, an RBI, and a run scored.
-Junior
Ryley Davis went 1-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.
-Freshman
Raegyn Davis went 1-3 with a double and an RBI.
-Freshman
Madisen Butler continued to be the pinch-hit expert with another RBI single in her one at-bat, going 1-1 with an RBI.

How it Happened:
-Concordia Wisconsin struck first in game two scoring a run on two hits.
-The Falcons broke the game open in the top of the second scoring 3 runs on 4 hits.
-Dominican cut the deficit in half in their half of the second inning. Senior
Hanna Voegtle kept her day rolling with an RBI single to center field. Freshman
Kayla Amormino brought home Voegtle with an RBI triple to left center field.
-CUW responded in the fourth inning scoring 2 runs on a hit, but taking advantage of 3 DU errors in the field.
-The Falcons got their insurance run in the top of the 7
th scoring a run on two hits.
-The Stars faced a 7-2 deficit going into their half of the seventh inning and got two runners on before the next three batters all got out.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore
Liberty Rivard came in relief for DU and pitched great in her 5.1 innings. The Sophomore picked up a strikeout and only gave up one earned run.
-Senior
Hanna Voegtle went 2-3 with an RBI, and a run scored.
-Freshman
Kayla Amormino had one of her best offensive games going 2-2 with a triple, and an RBI.

Hanna Voegtle was fantastic today at the plate going 4-6 with a homerun, 2 RBIs, and 2 Runs scored.
What's Next:
Dominican University Softball moves to 9-5 on the season and opens 1-1 in the NACC. The Stars will be right back in action tomorrow, March 30
th, at Elmhurst University. The first pitch between the Stars and the Bluejays is set for 1:00 p.m.
